Agribusiness Management at IIM Lucknow: Decoded. Good placement and curriculum.
Placements: The placement process is common for PGP and PGP-ABM students at IIM Lucknow. 100% students were placed in the placement process in 2019, and the placement process was a great success, and it is my proud privilege to inform you that the batch of 2020 was fortunate enough to have an even more fruitful placement season. The 2020 batch had 100% summer placements as well as final placements. For the final placements: Some of the top recruiters across different sectors are Accenture, Amazon, American Express, Asian Paints, A. T. Kearney, Avendus Capital, Brain, BCG, Citi, Colgate Palmolive, Flipkart, Goldman Sachs, ITC, JPMC, Mastercard, McKinsey, Microsoft, Nestle, Ola, P&G, Jio, Standard Chartered, TAS and Uber. There were some first-time recruiters as well, such as IndiGo, ONGC, PFC, Saif Partners and Wells Fargo. Companies such as Apparel Group, EY, RPG, Landmark Group Bosch, Standard Chartered Bank and Tolaram offered international roles. Top segments based on the roles offered were Strategy/Consulting, Operations/IT, Finance, General Management, and Sales & Marketing. The highest international salary: 58.47 LPA, the highest domestic Salary: 54 LPA, Mean Salary: 24.25 LPA and Median Salary: 23 LPA.
Infrastructure: Internet access is good throughout the campus. All hostels are internet enabled (Wi-Fi or LAN). Wi-Fi is accessible even from the PGP Academic Blocks (Bodhigrih-I and Bodhigrih-II) and the Library. The Computer Labs are open 24x7. They have a spacious cubicle-like seating arrangement with comfortable seating. They are air-conditioned and there is round-the-clock access to black and white and colour printers. The Library is also open 24x7 and houses a repository of rich resources and access to many academic journals and magazines of international repute. There is also access to Bloomberg Terminal facility. The libraries have comfortable seating, are well-lit and air conditioned. All classrooms are air-conditioned, have projectors, and access to the internet. They have comfortable seats, are well-lit and well-maintained. IIM Lucknow's mess is the jewel in its crown! It provides food fives times in a day, I. e. , breakfast, lunch, evening snacks dinner and operates at night time from 11 pm to 3 am, to cater to the hunger pangs of the students staying up, which means it serves food five times a day for 12+ hours. The quality of food is good, it tries to cater to the geographic diversity and tries to be inclusive in its menu, by providing students with options across different regional cuisines. There is a canteen too and two student-run food ventures which provide students with alternative good quality food sources apart from the mess. The medical facilities are satisfactory, students may visit doctors during the stipulated hours. There is also an ambulance for emergency situations. The sports facilities in IIM Lucknow are top of the line. There is a football ground, volleyball and throwball courts, indoor badminton court, tennis court, basketball court, table tennis tables. The Umang block houses the squash court, billiards table, swimming pool and a gym. The Utsav facility right next to the Umang block has an auditorium.
Faculty: The teachers are experts in their areas and were extremely helpful and approachable at all times. They were highly qualified, all of them PhDs or FPMs from prestigious and reputed universities. All of them were highly knowledgeable, and apart from teaching were involved in research, consultancy and training. The quality of teaching was great. They were more than just teachers, they were mentors. The first year is common to both PGP and PGP-ABM and the course curriculum includes general management courses in microeconomics, macroeconomics, accounting, financial management, marketing management, operations and supply chain management, HRM, MS/IT concepts and Strategy amongst other courses. ABM students have three additional courses which are introductory courses and act as a foundation for students who don't have a Food/Agri background. The second year electives include courses such as Agri-Inputs Marketing, Rural Marketing, Marketing Models, Strategic Food Marketing and Consumer Behaviour towards food products and services, Agri Supply Chain Management, Procurement of Food and Agri Commodities, Agri Value Chain Finance, Microfinance and Financial Inclusion, Agri Commodities Futures & Derivatives, and Risk Management in Agribusiness amongst other courses. My personal favourite courses were Rural Research Methods and Social Entrepreneurship & Innovation. There is even a field visit to fish mandis, cattle markets and grain and vegetable markets in the first year to experience the agri-trade hands-on. There is a 7-day field visit in the second year where students need to identify a research problem and go to rural areas and carry out live on-ground research. The course curriculum is relevant and undergoes periodic revisions to keep up with the dynamic environment. The pedagogy is such that it prepares students to not just take on the Agri industry and the rural context, but any industry, in general, with a robust bottom-of-the-pyramid standpoint, a social outlook and a sense of empathy, which distinguishes them from graduates from most B-schools trained and programmed to achieve solely the financial objectives of a corporation.
Other: I chose PGP-ABM because, apart from the robust pedagogy, amazing professors and a bright peer group, it has common placements along with PGP at IIM Lucknow, which means it is amongst the top half dozen premium B-Schools in India in terms of placements and overall repute. I had admits from IIM Kozhikode, IIM Indore, NITIE, MICA and IIM Ahmedabad FABM (Food & Agribusiness Management), but chose this programme due to the above-mentioned reasons. The best thing about PGP-ABM is that it provides the students with an opportunity to have all-round growth, the distribution of academic load is in such a way that it creates an environment for students which is conducive to follow other pursuits such as corporate competitions, sports, cultural events, artistic pursuits and even social work, which ensures that at the end of two years, you become a well-rounded individual. There aren't too many HR/organisational behaviour electives offered among the second-year electives in the PGP-ABM programme. This is one area which could be given a more in-depth coverage. There are some amazing Committees such as Bhavishya (the social initiative), they take initiatives such as teaching underprivileged children living in the vicinity of the campus, charity for orphanages and old-age homes, and organizing blood donation drives, amongst other initiatives.IIM Lucknow has its student-run investment fund, called Credence Capital. We even have an IIM Lucknow arm of SPIC MACAY which organized some amazing cultural events this year, which included a puppet show by Rajasthani puppeteers, a Kathakali performance by Keralite folk dancers, and the famous Lucknowi Shayari. We even have a Toastmasters Group which encourages participants to enhance their public-speaking skills. And a recently started Lucknow Laughter Club, a Club which aims to bring smiles to the faces IIM Lucknow committee by doing open mics, providing the in-house comedy talent with patronage in doing soWe have Music, Art, Dance and Dramatics clubs to foster the creative development of students and a Public Policy Club for economics and public policy enthusiasts. The student exchange programme provides students with the opportunity to expand their horizons and venture to Europe and learn business management at prestigious B-Schools there while getting involved in priceless cultural exchange. The 'Hel (L)' in which you'll want to stay forever.
Placements: All students were placed. For senior batch, there was an impact of demonetization and placements were not as good as ours. Students were offered role in consulting firms, finance and marketing majorly. Almost 90% students took internship from college. Stipend varies from 15k to 2lakh/month.
Infrastructure: Great infrastructure. Classrooms are well-equipped with all basic facilities and amenities like Projector, Centralized AC, comfortable seats etc. Quality of food is undoubtedly one of the best part at campus. There is a night mess which delivers food to hostels as late as 4 in the night.
Faculty: Acads curriculum is one of the toughest when compared to other tier one B schools. Most of tge professors have high class industry knowledge and are well experienced in teaching profession. 1 week of practical training is provided for ABM students to understand the ground realities.
Other: Manfeat Varchasva is one of the biggest college fests which is a combination of management sports and cultural fest. It lasts for 3 days viewing participation from multiple colleges all across India.

IIM Lucknow - A brief review of the campus at large.
Placements: Placements have been sanguine. All top recruiters visited and IIM L soared high. Yet another season of record placements. It was a remarkable year, going by the placement figures. PlaceComm did a commendable job so did the batch of students. A record placement was concluded in 2 days. Isn't that great? That's the grandiose of IIM Lucknow.
Infrastructure: IIM L is a lush green campus amidst posts of trees and beautiful buildings. The quintessential red bricks add the flavour of a B-School to help (L). It has all sports facilities besides gym, health centre, guest house among others. There are as many as 10 parks on IIM Lucknow. If you're a sports enthusiast, this is the place to be.
Faculty: IIM Lucknow comprises faculty of highly qualified and experienced professors. It was a great experience to live for real the feeling of being mentored by such mentors. IIM L has a balanced set of professors from all domains. There are visiting faculty as well.
Other: Camaraderie is the biggest intra-IIM Lucknow event. It is the annual intersection wars.

Review of IIM Lucknow - Indian Institute of Management (IIML).
Placements: Placements are in particular with PGP students. In 2019, it has proven to surpass PGP placements may be due to the low batch size. Consulting, finance, marketing, agriculture, supply chain management and HR roles were offered to the students, with the number of roles is highest in consulting and marketing fields.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is up to the mark considering the fee charged. Various services right from basic necessities to high-end requirements all are present at the doorstep. Certain reforms are made on the campus. Gym, sports room, pool, auditorium, etc., are a few of those.
Faculty: Faculty members are either senior faculty or the ones who change between Noida and Lucknow campus. Adjunct faculty are available on a term basis. They are highly professional and hear to students grievances related to academics. Professors mostly remain constant from PGP-1 to PGP-2.
Other: The campus crowd is great and intellectual.

In a nutshell, this college is extremely good in terms of placements, infrastructure and faculty.
Placements: Placements for this course are similar to that of the regular PGP course. There were almost 100% placements for the 2019 batch. However, the highest and the lowest salary packages are not disclosed by the college. Some notable companies like BCG, HUL, P&G and JPMC visit the campus. Most of the roles offered are in sales and marketing domains, followed by finance and consulting.
Infrastructure: There are smart classrooms with centralised A/C facilities. Power backup is available in case of electricity failure. The college has almost all indoor and outdoor games facilities. There is a gym facility. There are 16 hostels on the campus, and rooms are not provided on a sharing basis.
Faculty: There is one faculty member for every 50 students. All the faculty members are well-qualified in their field of interest. Case discussion with PPTs is the most common method of teaching. Guest lectures are conducted by the industry experts from time to time, which gives students an image of the corporate world and the situation they are going to face after the MBA.
