IIT Kanpur Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a full-time programme of two-year duration. This course is offered via the Department of Management Sciences (DoMS). Divided into four semesters, the programme includes compulsory and elective courses and a capstone project in the interest area of the participant. The institute offers the programme in seven core specialisations of Management.
IIT Kanpur MBA admissions are purely entrance-based. To seek admission, candidates must have appeared for CAT. Moreover, interested candidates must complete the eligibility criteria for IIT Kanpur MBA, the eligibility criteria are as follows:
- Candidates must have passed BTech or BE or BArch (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in Class 12) or,
- Four-year BSc Engineering degree (with Mathematics as one of the subjects), or
- Four-year BSc degree (with Mathematics as one of the subjects), or
- MSc (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG programme), or
- Master of Arts in Economics (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG programme) with at least 60% aggregate (50% aggregate for SC/ST) or
- A CPI of 6.0 (5.0 for SC/ST) on a scale of 10 from any AICTE recognised institute/university, IITs, NITs, and IIITs.
Candidates appearing for the final degree examination can also apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be admitted provisionally. They must complete all the requirements of the qualifying degree at the time of joining the course.
To be selected for IIT Kanpur MBA a CAT overall percentile required is 80 for GN, EWS, and OBC applicants (55 percentile for SC and ST applicants).
IIT Kanpur MBA Fees 2024
For admission to IIT Kanpur courses, students must pay various fee components included in the IIT Kanpur fee structure. The college fees also includes a one-time fee and the semester fees which is paid semester-wise. The total tuition fee for the MBA programme ranges between INR 7L and INR 13.5L. Students choosing accommodation are required to pay INR 61,400 - INR 1.7 lakh as hostel fees.

- After the application process is over; students have to go through various selection rounds for final admission. The institute considers the merit of the candidates for MBA and PhD admission.

IIT Kanpur only offers merit-based admission for all the courses. The institute accepts JEE Advanced scores for admission to BTech. Candidates need to pass JEE Main exam prior to appearing for JEE Advanced. Apart from its flagship programme, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Kanpur) offers BSc, BS, MTech, MSc, MDes, MBA, along with a few Dual Degree programmes. Admission to all courses is based on scores obtained in the entrance examinations such as GATE, IIT JAM, CEED and CAT. Along with UG and PG courses, IIT Kanpur also offers PhD in various specialisations, admisison to which again is entrance-based.
IIT Kanpur MBA total tuition fee ranges between INR 2.8 Lacs and INR 13.1 Lacs as per an unofficial source. The fee excludes admission fee, security deposits, semester fee and hostel charges. There is relaxation in fee for reserved category students. Candidates need to pay fee after completion of the selection rounds, to confirm their seat.
Apart from the tuition fee, aspirants need to register with an application fee in the start of the admission process. The application fee is INR 1,600 for General/ OBC (NCL) candidates. The fee is low (INR 800) for SC/ ST/ DAP candidates.

IIT Kanpur MBA placement 2024 report has been released. The Kanpur average package and highest package offered to the MBA students were INR 18.20 LPA and INR 24 LPA, respectively. More than 20 recruiters participated in the placement drive with, including 11 new recruiters. The median and lowest packages offered at the college stood at INR 19.90 LPA and INR 12.50 LPA, respectively.
