IIT Kanpur PhD Eligibility & Highlights 2024

IIT Kanpur offers a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme of three-year duration. IITK admission process for PhD programme is conducted twice a year, i.e., July and December. Admission to this programme may be made directly based on the scores obtained by the candidates in the entrance exam along with other factors. Given in the table below are the eligibility, selection criteria, and entrance exams accepted for PhD admission:

Eligibility	Master's degree in Engineering/ Science/ Humanities and Social Sciences/ Design with a minimum of 55% aggregate or 5.5 CPI Or Bachelor's degree with at least 75% aggregate or 7.5 CPI in a relevant discipline from a recognised institution
Selection criteria	Entrance exam* score, academic merit along with a written test, and interview conducted by IITK
*Accepted entrance exams	GATE, JRF/ NET, JEST, CSIR- NET JRF, COGJET, CAT, GMAT, CEED
Financial assistance	- Financial support (in the form of institute assistantship) is available for the regular (non-sponsored) students of PhD - The student is expected to carry out the assigned duties during the programme - For PhD students, the corresponding financial support amounts to INR 31,000 for the first two years, and thereafter, it is raised to INR 35,000 for another three years - Students may also avail financial assistantship from external funding agencies (such as UGC/ CSIR/ NBHM/ INSPIRE/ DBT/ ICAR/ ICMR/ PMRF etc.) - In addition to the above, several attractive fellowships from Industry/DAE are also available

IIT Kanpur PhD Admission Process 2024

IIT Kanpur PhD application process is conducted in both online and offline modes. Interested students can visit the official website of IIT Kanpur PG admission, i.e. https://iitk.ac.in/doaa/pgadmission/ and click on ‘Important Links’ followed by the application form filling and online payment of application fee. Additionally, students can also download the application form from the above process and submit the filled form offline. Those willing to apply for more than one course must fill up separate application forms for each programme.

The application fee is INR 500 for General, EWS, OBC and OBC-NCL candidates and INR 250 for SC/ ST and all DAP candidates. However, the application fee is waived for candidates in the 'Foreign National' category.

NOTE: PhD applicants must arrange for two letters of reference as well. For this, the names of the referees along with their e-mail ids must be disclosed by the candidate at the online applications portal. The referees will be contacted electronically through an auto-generated mail with a request to submit their recommendations online.

Copy of Class 12 mark sheet

Placements: In this college, there are many companies interested in this course and providing the best package, like 7 LPA to 30 LPA. The highest salary is present. This company provides a 2 to 3 years agreement for employees who do not resign from the company. This course is held every year, and the maximum number of students is placed in the company.

Infrastructure: In this college, infrastructure is also good because it is a top college for this course. In this college, facilities are provided like classrooms, labs, a hostel, a bathroom, a library, a canteen, an auditorium, a lift, CCTV, etc. Facilities are available. Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure available in my course are very good. Wi-Fi, classrooms, library ,all these things are available in my course. The quality and facilities present in my hostel, including food, are very good. Medical help is also present in this course. Sports and games are available in the college.

Faculty: Teachers in my course are very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. They have great teaching qualities. This course is curriculum relevant, and students are industry-ready. Semester exams in my course are very difficult, yet the pass percentage is more than 60%.

Placements: The percentage of students placed in my course is more than 90%. The highest and the lowest packages offered for this course are 15 LPA and 3 LPA per annum. The recruiting companies in my course are Essential and Wipro. The percentage of students who got internships from my course is more than 60%.

Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure available in my college are very good. Wi-Fi, classrooms, library—everything is available. The quality and facilities in my hostel are very good. The canteen, medical facilities, and sports games are all available in the college.

Faculty: The teachers are very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. All teachers in my college have good teaching qualities. This course is curriculum-relevant, and students are industry-ready. The semester exams in my college were very easy; therefore, the pass percentage was 90%.

Other: I chose this course for getting the best knowledge. The best thing about the course is that we require only physical and practical work. There is no wish to improve in this course. The surrounding campus and crowd are all so good. Scholarships are also available for top-performing students.

The college is good for students to study.

Placements: Seventy percent of students got placed on the college campus. The highest package is 15 LPA, the lowest package is 4 LPA, and the average is 5 LPA. Recruiting companies include International School, College, etc. The internship on campus is good, with 90 percent of students getting internships on campus. However, the placement of students is poor.

Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure of the college are very good for students. The Wi-Fi is free, the labs are filled with all the instruments, and the classes are well maintained. The hostel is average for food, but other facilities are good. The canteen is good for food but also expensive.

Faculty: The teachers are friendly with students in Study topic but the teachers helps us to do good in exam by taking extra classes during exam time. Our college is the best college. It has 4 to 5 playgrounds.

Placements: 57% of students are placed in good companies in our EE Course. The highest package is 18 Lacs, and the lowest is 6 Lacs. The average package is 10 Lacs. 34% got internships from campus. The companies selecting are Nova, Indiga, EY, Microsoft, and Wipro. These companies offer higher packages.

Infrastructure: The facilities include modern classrooms with projectors, TV, and Wi-Fi connectivity. The campus labs are equipped with necessary equipment and materials. The library has a large number of books and provides new and high-quality books. I think the hostel provides good food and services in my opinion.

Faculty: Teachers are supportive in the classroom. They teach in an effective and understandable way. They are friendly with the students in the class as well as on the campus. They are all qualified with higher degrees. Most of them have their Ph.D. with a minimum of 10 years of experience.

My college is one of the best colleges in our state and most of the lecturers are friendly.

Placements: The placement is getting better and better in our college; the highest package is 24 lacs per year, and the lowest package is 8 lacs per year. And the average package is 16 lacs per year. The top companies that came to my course are Reliance, Goldman Sachs, Tata Project, and some other companies. 70 percent of students got internships at Tata Steel and Raymond. The roles offered in my course depend on the talent of students .

Infrastructure: In our area, there is more than 50 Wi-Fi facilities where students, staffand lecturers can use them. There are separate labs for separate branches and the labs are well cleaned and good. And the classrooms are well cleaned and they use different type of boards, and they also uses the screens to show in practical form or explain. There is one big library, and there we can take many of the books which we want, which will help us gain knowledge. The hostel is good and well cleaned, the quality of food is good but depends upon the day; there are emergency or medical facilities to the students who are injured, and they will conduct sports like volleyball, cricket, chess, kabaddi, carrom, etc. And they also conduct online games like free fire and stc.

Faculty: The teachers who teach us are great; we have to thank them all. They helped us a lot, they were basically well graduated and there way of thinking in different ways to answer the questions of students is good. Yes, this course is curriculum relevant and it makes students industry-ready, where they will provide some skills and learn some programs and some other courses. The semesters are difficult to understand and not that easy to read. The passing percentage of our college is 55 percent of marks, which is equal to 5.5 points on a scale .
