IIM Mumbai is a good institution when it comes to academics as claimed by its alumni. Faculty at IIM Mumbai are well-qualified and the students of this institute get a chance to work on research projects along with the professors. IIM Mumbai has been ranked 7 under ‘Management’ category by the NIRF in 2023. Talking about the placements, the highest and average package offered during IIM Mumbai placements 2022 stood at INR 49 LPA and INR 25.4 LPA, respectively. 

IIM Mumbai MBA students are taught Supply Chain Management, Business Strategy with Sustainability, Safety Management, Environmental Management, and Corporate Social Responsibility. MBA students can become Product Managers, Marketing Analysts, Business Operations Managers, or can take up any job role relevant to their field and interest. MBA students are placed in top companies such as Microsoft, Goldman Sachs and Pine Labs,  and others. 

Earlier, there was no IIM in Mumbai. But now NITIE Mumbai has been renamed to IIM Mumbai. The institute has been ranked 7 under ‘Management’ category by the NIRF in 2023. NITIE has always been at par with IIMs when it comes to Management category rankings. As per the report by Hindustan Times "As per the gazette published by the Ministry of Law and Justice, NITIE will continue to function until a new board is constituted for IIM under this act. After the constitution of a new board under this act, the old board will dissolve."

IIM Admission Criteria and Selection Process 2023 - The first step towards getting into the IIMs is taking the CAT exam. The next steps are Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Intervew (PI). The WAT and PI are the main selection criteria of IIM MBA admission. They are conducted after the CAT result announcement. Candidates who meet the CAT cut off, are shortlisted for WAT and PI. Final selection for IIM admission is based on candidate's overall profile - CAT score, academic score, work experience, category and WAT and PI score.

The eligibility for IIMs is the same as the CAT eligibility requirements. However, here are a few added points to be kept in mind.

• The minimum requirement is a graduate degree with 50% for general, EWS, and NC-OBC categories or 45% for SC, ST, and PwD categories.
• Candidates in their final year of graduation are also eligible
• Candidates must meet the minimum cutoffs to participate in the WAT/PI rounds and expect interview calls.

IIM Mumbai offers various courses, namely Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering (PGDIE), Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Management (PGDIM) and Post Graduate Diploma in Sustainability Management (PGDSM), Post-Graduate Program for Executives for Visionary Leadership for Manufacturing (PGPEX-VLFM) and Fellow programme. For PGDIM course admission, candidates must have satisfy the eligibility criteria and appear for the CAT entrance exam. Indian candidates are shortlisted for the group discussion (GD) and personal interview (PI) process based on their valid CAT scores subject to meeting the minimum eligibility criteria. On the other hand, international candidates are shortlisted for the group discussion and personal interview process based on GMAT scores, IELTS/ TOEFL (applicable for foreign candidates) and 60% aggregate marks in the qualifying degree.
