CAT exam notification 2022 for extension of registration deadline was released on September 14. The new deadline to register for the exam is September 21, 5:00 PM. 

The CAT 2022 exam notification carrying exam schedule was released on July 30. Along with the release of notification, the CAT 2022 website was launched. The official CAT 2022 notification includes all the important information related to the MBA entrance exam, including the conducting IIM institute, CAT exam schedule, eligibility, fees, syllabus and pattern, test cities, reservation policy, etc.

CAT notification is an official document released by the exam conducting institute ahead of the registration process to inform candidates all about the exam. The CAT exam notification contains all the information such as CAT 2022 exam date, conducting institute, registration start date, end date, exam pattern, exam fees, eligibility criteria, reservation, selection criteria, score calculation process, etc.

CAT Eligibility Criteria

CAT exam is conducted for PG management courses thus candidates who have completed their bachelor’s degree or are in the final year of the course are eligible to appear for it. Check below CAT eligibility criteria as per the official notification:

  • The candidate must have completed Bachelor’s degree with required percentage from a recognised university
  • The candidate should be in the final year of Bachelor’s degree with required percentage
  • The candidate must have completed professional degree (CA/CS/ICWA/FCAI) with required percentage
  • There is no age bar on appearing for CAT. Candidates with work experience or without work experience can apply

CAT registration process is online. The CAT notification will explain the process of exam registration through a PDF document. The CAT registration and application process goes on for about 45 days. Check below, CAT registration cum application process 2022:

  • Log on to iimcat website and click on new registration
  • Enter name, nationality, phone number, email ID and date of birth
  • Click on submit to generate OTP
  • Authenticate the account with the OTP received on phone
  • After authentication, the user will receive an ID and password
  • Log in with the user ID and password to fill the application form
  • Enter personal details, academic details, preferred test cities and preferred IIIMs
  • Upload scanned photograph, signature, caste and other certificates (if required)
  • Pay CAT application fee via debit/credit card, net banking or mobile wallet

CAT test centres are the designated locations having computer labs where candidates can write the exam. The CAT exam is administered at these exam centres by TCS in collaboration with IIM. How is CAT Exam Centre Allotted?

  • The CAT exam centre allotment is based on candidate’s preferred choice of city. Here’s how:
  • Candidate gets the option of choosing four to six exam cities in order of preference in the CAT application form

  • The CAT test centre is allotted to candidates on first come first served basis and availability of seats in a particular centre

CAT Result and Shortlisting for PGP/MBA

The notification of CAT result announcement is not released at the time of exam registration. The CAT result notification is release after the exam has been conducted and the CAT answer keys have been released. The CAT 2022 result notification will be released by the conducting IIM tentatively in the last week of December or first week of January. The CAT 2022 result cum scorecard will be available for download on the official website most likely by January 3, 2023.

Post the declaration of CAT result, the IIMs will begin shortlisting process for MBA/PGP courses. The list of candidates shortlisted on the basis of CAT score for the selection round will be made available on the website of the respective IIMs. Each IIM will send interview letters to participate in Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) to the shortlisted candidates directly.

FAQs on CAT Notification 2022

Q: When will CAT 2022 notification be out?

A: CAT notification for 2022 exam was released on July 30. The notification was published in all national newspapers and at iimca.ac.in website on July 31.

Q: Who will conduct CAT 2022 exam?

A: CAT 2022 exam conducting institute is IIM Bangalore. Official announcement was made with the release of CAT notification 2022. Last year, the CAT exam was conducted by IIM Ahmedabad.

Q: Will the CAT exam be delayed this year due to COVID-19?

A: CAT 2022 exam is unlikely to be delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic the IIMs have conducted it successfully amid the pandemic twice since 2020. Also, now the world is getting back to normal.

A: The new CAT exam pattern has same syllabus and time duration. However, the number of questions have been reduced from 76 to 66. VARC section has 24 questions, DILR has 20 questions and QA has 22 questions.

Q: How many CAT test centres can I choose in the CAT form?

A: A candidate can choose up to six cities in the CAT application form as preference for test centre allotment. The exam authority try to allot an exam centre to the candidate in the city listed as first preference, so candidates must select their home city as first choice.

Q: How much CAT score is required to make it to IIMs GD-PI?

A: CAT cut offs for selection to GD-PI of the IIMs are different for different category students. The CAT cut off percentiles range between 98-100 for top IIMs and 90-95 for rest of the IIMs.
