On Fees and Eligibility
Q:   How is life at Jindal School of Languages and Literature?
A:

The Jindal School of Languages and Literature (JSLL) is part of the O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU). The school offers a B.A. programme in English and Cultural Studies, Comparative Literature, and Translation Studies.

According to the school, JSLL provides a stimulating and rewarding higher education experience. The school's programs include independent and faculty-supervised learning activities to encourage students to go beyond the content of their courses.

According to Shiksha, the Jindal School is a good option for a B.A. at a lower cost

Q:   What are the minimum marks required for B.A at Jindal School of Languages and Literature 2023?
A:

Unfortunately, Jindal School of Languages and Literature (JSLL) doesn't specify a single minimum marks requirement for B.A programs in 2023. This is because admission depends on a nuanced process considering various factors beyond just Class 12th scores. Here's a breakdown to clarify:

1. No Fixed Minimum Score:

  • JSLL doesn't set a "cut-off" percentage like other universities. A specific minimum score like 60% or 75% isn't guaranteed to secure admission.

2. Multi-faceted Assessment:

  • Admission decisions consider a holistic evaluation,  including:
    • Class 12th Marks: While not definitive,  good marks (generally above 70%) in relevant subjects like English,  literature,  or humanities can strengthen your application.
    • Standardized Test Scores: Performance in exams like SAT or ACT can demonstrate academic capability and boost your chances.
    • Personal Statement: A well-written statement showcasing your passion for language and literature,  academic goals,  and relevant experiences is crucial.
    • Additional Tests/Interviews: Some programs might have specific written tests or interviews to assess your aptitude and communication skills.
    • Reservation and Quota System: Admission policies consider reservations for disadvantaged groups,  potentially increasing your chances if applicable.

3. Program Variability:

  • Different B.A programs within JSLL might have slightly varied eligibility criteria and weightage given to different components. Research your specific programme of interest for details.

4. Competitive Landscape:

  • Admission depends on the applicant pool's strength in a particular year. A score that might be sufficient in one year might fall short in another due to increased competition.

Therefore, instead of focusing on a fixed minimum score, emphasize presenting a strong, well-rounded application that showcases your potential for success in a B.A programme at JSLL. Here are some tips:

  • Research programme specifics: Understand the specific selection criteria and desired profile for your chosen B.A program.
  • Strengthen your application: Craft a compelling personal statement,  practice for potential interviews,  and consider taking standardized tests.
  • Stay updated: Regularly check the JSLL website or contact the admissions office for any updates on deadlines,  weightage criteria,  and program-specific details.

By focusing on these aspects, you can improve your chances of admission even without a pre-defined minimum score requirement. Remember, a competitive application and a genuine passion for language and literature can take you a long way!

Q:   What is the eligibility criteria for B.A at Jindal School of Languages and Literature?
A:

The eligibility criteria for B.A. at Jindal School of Languages and Literature (JSLL) is straightforward and focuses on ensuring a strong foundation in language and academic aptitude. Here's a quick breakdown:

Educational Qualification:

  • Successful completion of Class 12th examination or an equivalent exam recognised by the government,  such as CBSE,  State Boards,  IB,  or Cambridge.

Academic Performance:

  • No specific minimum marks are required,  but strong performance in subjects like English,  literature,  and humanities is preferred.

Entrance Exams:

  • Applicants can take either the Christ University Entrance Test (CUET) or the Jindal Scholastic Aptitude Test (JSAT).
  • Strong scores in relevant sections like language proficiency,  critical thinking,  and analytical reasoning are crucial.

Additional Factors:

  • While not mandatory,  submitting scores from standardized tests like SAT or ACT can strengthen your application.
  • Demonstrating a genuine passion for language and literature through personal writing or extracurricular activities is highly valued.

Overall, JSLL seeks well-rounded candidates who possess a strong academic background, critical thinking skills, and a passion for language and literature. By excelling in the entrance exams, showcasing your academic strengths, and crafting a compelling personal statement, you can increase your chances of securing admission to this prestigious program.

A good place to learn, experience, and develop ourselves.
Placements: Office of Career Services offers internships through superset but are not very relevant to our course. We can outsource internships and get them approved by the depth. We are provided with a brochure. I was required to cover 3 internships in 3 Years, for 6 credits.
Infrastructure: AC and theater both are available. Classrooms have air-conditioners. Wi-Fi needs to be improved but runs well only in enclosed spaces. Food is available 4 times a day with a variety of options catering to everyone. The food court and lounges are accessible all the time. Rooms are shared so we have to learn to adjust.
Faculty: Course curriculum is extremely rigorous so expect a lot of stress. Our department (depending on proof) may give an extension. Exams are simple but with insane word limits and great quality points. Passing marks are 40. All professors are experienced.
Other: Enjoy time with friends at Chain Tapri and roam around. We can explore nearby places as well. Events are held thrice a week or twice a week, if we participate in activities we are occupied through semester without even knowing. It is helpful to build connections and get to know others as well.
