It is an Average college .

Placements: Our college did not provide placement. No one was placed and no one got internships. We had no knowledge about internships and no one knew about placement. No package and no companies came to hire us. No one gave us offers for placement.

Infrastructure: College had a library with decent number of books related to Economics and a Wi-Fi too and classrooms were good enough. There was a canteen with hardly any food options. No medical facilities and had a game room and no hostel. Labs were not assigned to us for use. Only carrom board was in the game room.

Faculty: There were very few professors and very few responsible professors. They had good knowledge but few could not teach well. They finished the syllabus on time but we lacked practical knowledge. They were aware of the syllabus and taught accordingly. Few teachers gave their best others did not.

Other: I had economics in my higher secondary and I used to like that subject. So I thought of taking it up. The best part was mathematical economics that I liked the most. But our education system somehow lacks practical knowledge. I wish they could make the students give practical examples and real life knowledge about economics rather than going by the old syllabus and books which were written many years ago. It is important to know the history but also important to relate to the present and help to make the future better. No events or activities in my college. There were some scholarships and the crowd was average.

This is an average college mixed quality of faculty and sub par facilities.

Placements: Since it's an undergraduate college under Calcutta university, don't expect placements. Sometimes you can expect certain seminars to happen but job placements has never happened in this college. Also no prospect of internship provided by the college.

Infrastructure: Jogamaya devi college operates in two buildings, one in the main ashutosh college building, and the other in the lane behind. There is no Wi-Fi or air conditioning, there are some smart classrooms, but those are seldom used. Classes are airy and big in ashutosh college, the other building in pretty cramped. Canteen is below average. College provides no hostel, but there are pgs nearby.

Faculty: Our economics department consisted of 3 permanent teachers and few part time lecturers. Teachers are pretty helpful, they provided proper notes and advice throughout our course, however this is only applicable for our department, other departments may differ. Pass or general subjects are taught very poorly.

Other: This is a morning college, classes start from 6:15 am. Fests and even do occur in the college, and there are certain scholarships that are provided by the college if one fits the criteria.

It's morning college, so if you don't mind walking up and going to a class at 6:15 AM.

Placements: The college does not provide any placement opportunities. We are told that the college used to provide us with internship posts last semester, but since most of the students did not take up the opportunity, they have stopped providing the internship option altogether. No assistance in placements at all.

Infrastructure: Classrooms are decent, smart boards are available, but most teachers do not use them. Wi-Fi is there, but the password is not shared. The college library does not let you take the book home, so I don't understand the point, but the seminar library is good, with access to all the necessary books related to economics.

Faculty: The exam is conducted by the university, not the college. You have to go to another college to take exams. If you have heard about Calcutta University, you would know how the exams are. The curriculum is very theory-based and barely practical. It is doable.

Satisfied with the faculty of the college, good infrastructure, and facilities.

Placements: The college offers internships to the students. The economics department emphasizes industry exposure, career counseling, and research opportunities, which can help motivated students achieve strong outcomes. I graduated in the year 2024; during my time there, there were no internships, but currently, students can have internships.

Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure available for your course/department (e.g., Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, library). I didn't live in the hostel, so I don't know much about the quality of food available in the mess and canteen. There are medical facilities available, and sports and games are held every year.

Faculty: Teachers were helpful, qualified, and highly knowledgeable and experienced for several years. The teaching quality is good and clear. The semester exams in this college are comparatively tough, and the pass percentage for the students is 40% for honors students and 30% for general students.

Other: I love economics and mathematics; there are elective courses as well, which are useful in further studies. I prefer more practical classes with more guidance from the teachers at every step. Events, festivals, campus crowd, connectivity, campus surroundings, scholarships, and extracurricular activities all happen there.
