K J Somaiya School of Engineering offers various scholarships and financial aid programs to assist students financially and provide affordable world class education. KJSSE offers 5 scholarships to the students. These scholarships are offered to students with extraordinary talent in sports and academics.
1. Financial Aid at Entry Level - Somaiya Vidyavihar University
This is the main aid for KJSCE. It is available at the time of admission for any UG and PG program. Admission is based on academics, but Financial Aid is assessed only on financial need. Once awarded, it is applicable for the entire course duration.
Eligibility Criteria - You need to fulfil ANY ONE:
A. EWS / BPL Category: Annual family income less than Rs. 8,00,000 per annum. This gets up to 100% concession on tuition fees. In some programs it is 20% to 80% of tuition fees, and can go up to 100% based on evaluation.
B. Persons with Disabilities - PwD: Benchmark disability of 40% or more. This gets 50% concession on tuition fees.
C. Wards of Defence Personnel: Wards of defence personnel disabled or deceased in the line of duty. This gets 50% concession on tuition fees.
D. Sports Category: Applicants who have represented State or Country in any recognized sport. This is for http://B.Sc. Sports and Exercise Science primarily, but also considered for Sports Merit Scholarship at KJSCE. This can get up to 100% on total course fee.
Selection Process:
Submission happens through the official admissions portal. Select "Yes" for Financial Aid in the application form. Screening is done based on eligibility. Evaluation includes an interview round and scrutiny / verification of documents. Award decision is final. The decision is made based on availability of funds.
2. Merit-Based Scholarship - KJSCE BTech
Offered at the time of release of offer letter. Limited to up to 20% of total intake seats. First-come-first-served basis.
- 98+ Percentile in JEE Main / MHT-CET / SAT / PERA-CET / CUET - 50% of tuition fees waived
- 95 to 97.99 Percentile - 45% of tuition fees waived
- 90 to 94.99 Percentile - 35% of tuition fees waived
- 75 to 89.99 Percentile - Scholarship available for select branches only
Conditions to retain: Minimum CGPA of 7.0, 75% attendance, and disciplined behavior on campus. Scholarship is for the entire 4-year duration.
3. Other Scholarships at KJSCE
- Girl Scholarship: Merit-cum-need based for girl candidates. Up to 100% tuition fees.
- Sports Merit Scholarship: For students who represented institute in inter-university, National School Games, National/International level. Must be 17 to 26 years of age and commit to continue sports. Up to 100% on total course fee.
- SVU Need-based Scholarship: Demonstrated financial need. Up to 100% tuition fees.
- PUSH - People United for Students Help: Crowd-funded by employees, students, alumni. Amount is variable. Shri. Ramlal Khetawat Scholarship comes under this. It is for needy UG students, awarded to ONE student annually. Amount is minimum Rs. 70,000/- and 50% of college tuition fees.
- Industry Sponsored Scholarships: Sponsored by Blue Star Foundation, JSW Foundation, Mohan T Advani, Ramlal Khetawat. Amount varies, e.g. JSW - UG Rs. 4,50,000 total, PG Rs. 3,00,000 total.
4. MTech Scholarships at KJSCE
- Merit Scholarship for MTech Students: For Top 2 GATE scorers in each MTech program. 50% of tuition fees yearly. Continuation in second year is based on first-year performance. No family income restriction.
- Financial Aid / EWS: For economically weaker sections. Amount varies as per college policy.
- GATE Stipend: GATE qualified PG students get stipend of Rs. 12,400/- per month directly credited by AICTE.
5. Benevolent Status Scholarship - Special Case
For students who faced sudden economic or financial loss due to death in family or loss of job. Can apply at any point during course.
Eligibility:
Family income should be Rs. 3 lakhs or less than 3 lakhs.
Student can be from any institute or any course across Somaiya campuses.
Must have scored minimum 80% in previous exam.
Application Window: January to September every year. First-year admitted and second-year onwards promoted students can apply.
6. Documents & Important Rules
- Documents needed are Statement of Purpose (300 words)
- Income Certificate
- EWS Certificate
- Aadhaar Card
- Bank Statements of last 6 months for earning family members
- Proof of Residence, Academic Records.
You can apply for only one scholarship in a year. If you take financial aid, you cannot take another SVU scholarship in same year.
