The eligibility criteria stated by MEC Kochi mentions the minimum qualification and aggregate requried to apply for a course. The basic eligibility is Class 12 for UG courses and graduation for PG programmes. Below is course-wise eligibility for MEC Kochi:

This college offers students good placements and the students can start applying for placement from their 5^th semester onwards. Almost 97% of students get placed in the campus selections of CSE branch and also for remaining branches. The highest package offered is INR 30LPA and the average package is INR 8-9LPA.

The top companies which are recruiting candidates are Google, Microsoft, tcs, HCL, Amazon, Infosys in CSE branch. Similarly, Tech Mahindra, TATA elxis, TCS, Wipro are recruting in core branches. There is also more internship oppurtunities for the students who were in this college.

For now, Model Engineering College Kochi does not accepts JEE score. Candidates are offered seats in BTech based on KEAM score. Allotment to 95% (50% merit- regulated fees and 45%- full fees) seats is made by the Commissioner for Entrance Examination (CEE), Government of Kerala. Once shortlisted, candidates need to pay the course fee to confirm their seat in the college.

MEC Kochi does not offer direct admission. Candidates need to follow certain steps to join the college. Starting with fill out the application form for the preferred course. The selection for BTech programme Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination conducted every year by Government of Kerala. Besides, admission to M.Tech course is based on GATE score. Once selected, candidates need to participate in counselling and seat allotment.

The application fee for KEAM is as follows: Engineering only/ B.Pharma only/both: General: INR 875 and SC: INR 375. Architecture only/Medical & Allied only/both: General: INR 625 and SC: INR 250. Both the streams: General: INR 1125 and SC: INR 500.

The candidate can join MEC Kochi in M.Tech or any M.Tech speculations course by appearing in the graduate aptitude test in engeneering (GATE).

The candidate has to secure a minimum of 65% in the B.Tech or degree to apply for M.Tech in this college and also a minimum of 50% in the schooling time irrespective of any board either it may be of state board, CBSE or ICSE. THE total intake for M.Tech is 18 for CSE and 18 for electronics. The previous year cutoffs varies every year due to the completion of the course and the seat availability in the college.
