MEC Kochi BTech admission is entrance-based. Candidates are selected based on merit in the KEAM exam conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Exam (CEE) in Kerala. Eligible students can fill out the MEC Kochi BTech application form in both online and offline mode. To apply online, candidates can visit the college's official website (www.mec.ac.in). STEP 2: Shortlisting of Students

Model Engineering College Thrikkakara Kochi conducts internal exams for each course as part of the internal assessment component of the academic evaluation. The internal assessment marks are based on assignments, quizzes, seminars, etc. The internal exams are usually conducted twice in a semester. The duration of each exam is one hour and the marks are 30. If a student fails in an internal exam, he or she will get zero marks for that exam and it will affect his or her internal assessment marks. The internal assessment marks are calculated by taking the average of the two internal exams and adding 10 marks for attendance and 10 marks for other components. The internal assessment marks carry a weightage of 50% in the final grade.

This college offers students good placements and the students can start applying for placement from their 5th semester onwards. Almost 97% of students get placed in the campus selections of CSE branch and also for remaining branches. The highest package offered is INR 30LPA and the average package is INR 8-9LPA.
The top companies which are recruiting candidates are Google, Microsoft, tcs, HCL, Amazon, Infosys in CSE branch. Similarly, Tech Mahindra, TATA elxis, TCS, Wipro are recruting in core branches. There is also more internship oppurtunities for the students who were in this college.
The college releases cutoff ranks for the selection rounds until all the seats are allotted. MEC Kochi recent cutoff for the BTech courses is not available. In 2021, the KEAM closing rank was most competitive for CSE- 1117, followed by Electronics and Communication Engineering - 3292, and Electronics and Biomedical Engineering - 11430. KEAM question papers can be downloaded from the official website cee.kerala.gov.in. In. KEAM is held in CBT mode with one paper that has three sections (Maths, Physics, Chemistry) for BTech candidates and two (Physics, Chemistry) for BPharm candidates. The KEAM 2026 entrance exam for engineering courses will consist of 150 questions, with Mathematics having 75 questions, Physics having 45 questions, and Chemistry having 30 questions. Candidates will have 180 minutes to complete the exam. For candidates appearing for KEAM 2026 BPharm ONLY, the entrance exam will have 45 questions in Physics and 30 questions in Chemistry, to be completed within 90 minutes. Each correct answer will fetch candidates four marks, while every incorrect answer will result in a deduction of one mark.
KEAM 2026 counselling dates were announced on July 2.
KEAM 2026 normalised scores were out on May 12.

Candidates need to pass BTech degree in relevant stream with at least 60% aggregate to apply for MEC Kochi M.Tech programme. For SC/ ST candidates, a pass in the Engineering degree is enough. Besides, aspirants belonging to SEBC (OBC) need to pass the degree with a minimum of 54% aggregate.
