Strong placements, supportive community, and a vibrant campus life.
Placements: Model Engineering College (MEC), Thrikkakara, records strong placements, with around 75% of B.Tech students placed in 2025 and CSE/ECE achieving 100%. The highest package reached 44 LPA, with a median of 6.3 LPA. Recruiters include Amazon, Google, IBM, Intel, Deloitte, Cognizant, Oracle, Bosch, and Jio. Internships are offered every semester, supported by the alumni network and industry links. Roles span software engineering, development, core engineering, analyst, and consulting positions.
Infrastructure: At Model Engineering College (MEC), Thrikkakara, students enjoy a vibrant campus with SMART classrooms, well-equipped labs, a central library full of books and digital resources, and fast Wi-Fi everywhere. Sports lovers have space for football, basketball, badminton, and more. The boys' hostel is on campus, the girls' hostel is nearby, and both offer comfortable rooms with tasty veg and non-veg meals. There's also a health center for quick medical help. Life here isn't just about academics. Events like the tech fest, Excel, active student clubs, and cultural activities make campus life lively and well-rounded.
Faculty: At Model Engineering College (MEC), Thrikkakara, the faculty are well-qualified, approachable, and supportive, making classes engaging and clearing doubts effective. The KTU-based curriculum blends theory and practical work, generally seen as relevant, though some feel it could be more industry-focused. Semester exams are of moderate to high difficulty, often drawing from previous years' papers, and can be managed with focused preparation. Pass percentage ranges from about 75% to 100%, varying by branch and batch. Overall, the teaching quality, structured curriculum, and supportive environment help students build strong fundamentals while preparing for careers in engineering and technology.
Other: I chose this engineering course because MEC stood out for its strong placements, vibrant tech culture, and solid alumni network that genuinely boosts your learning beyond classrooms. One of the best things is the peer support. Seniors, peers, and alumni all help you grow, and our flagship tech fest, Excel, is a thrilling highlight each year. That said, I wish the campus were a bit bigger and offered more hangout spots outside academics. While scholarships like merit-cum-means ease finance, the extracurricular scene, especially clubs like IEEE, TinkerHub, and the art and sports fests, makes MEC feel like home.

Good placements, small campus.
Placements: Placements are pretty good at Model Engineering College compared to other engineering colleges. Electronics and biomedical have low placements compared to other departments. The highest placements in core EBE companies are 20 Lacs per annum, according to my knowledge.
Infrastructure: Model Engineering College has a small campus compared to other engineering colleges. The college has both ladies' hostel and gents' hostel. The college has Wi-Fi, and the labs are also good at the Model Engineering College. A better hands-on experience is provided through labs.
Faculty: All teachers are qualified and skilled. They are also helpful in career building. Semester exams are easy if you study well. It is not that tough to pass an exam if you study well. The pass percentage in MEC is high compared to other colleges.

Excellent college with placements and skill development but has some infrastructure constraints.
Placements: In EEE last year, almost 80% of students were placed in different companies. Overall placements for CS are very much higher than for other branches. Reputed companies like Visa, Redbus, etc., are regular recruiters from our college. In my course, top recruiters are Kalkitech, Hitachi, Synopsys, etc.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is not that big compared to other colleges but now new buildings are being built. College provides a hostel inside the college campus and ladies' hostel near college. Canteen facility is good. Sports and games are also great. Usually college annual sports meet Chakravyuh, and arts fest Layatharang happens in the even semester.
Faculty: Faculty members are really helpful. They are highly qualified. Most of the senior faculty members are Ph.D. holders. College is affiliated with KTU. Its curriculum is under KTU. Usually, the semester exams are medium to difficult range. But if you study atleast the PYQ thoroughly you can get through the exams. Our college has a pass percentage of almost 80%.

It's a good choice for college in Kochi.
Placements: College offers very good placements compared to other contemporaries. Number of companies visiting for CS is more followed by Electronics. Other branches do have placements but a bit less in core. A dedicated placement cell run by students is one important plus point of MEC.
Infrastructure: Good academic infrastructure, but a bad hostel experience for girls. Food and accommodation are not that good for college ladies hostel. Library is abundant. One thing that is lacking is lack of space, not much recreational space available in college.
Faculty: Exams and all are held strictly. No issues of strike and all due to a lack of political organizations within college premises. Faculty is okay, some good, some bad. Well, you can't expect highly dedicated teachers in a government organisation. KTU curriculum is kind. Have to study a lot of concepts ourselves.
Other: There are a lot of clubs to connect with. Another thing I like is the arts and sports fest.

Good college, but don't go for EEE.
Placements: I am in final year right now. But as far as I know, last year EEE 2025 batch just had about 25 placements, out of which most are managerial roles, while core are hardly 7-8. As branches keep getting added, there is competition now, like with almost 700 students. Companies do expect you to know intermediate level of programming even if you are in core branches. But for CS the competition would be just 4 branches, and three EC, so if you really put in your efforts, you can get placed well.
Infrastructure: Classrooms have less infrastructure but if you are a KV passout, you will find it much similar. Moreover, the labs in EEE department are so outdated. In other colleges, they use whole set-ups, but here, we create the entire thing from scratch, and cross and equipment hardly even work.
Faculty: Teachers are good I would say. But the issue is that it's more about what teachers can even do. Each semester lasts for hardly 3 months, and how are teachers even supposed to teach everything. Another issue is that teachers are majorly strict here. 75% is kind of mandatory, and some teachers won't budge to help. Each course co-ordinator's major aim is for them to have great marks in their own subject even if its low credit one. So compared with CSE, you will have classes almost every day and might end up with lower internal marks as teachers are strict.
Other: Major issue is that the funds are low to conduct most hyped activities. College is already struggling with keeping up with students in keeping as they keep on adding more batches.

No campus life but hope that placement is there.
Placements: For mechanical branch, placement is very low. However, it is easier for girls to get placed in this branch. Only about 25% of the students get placed. The highest salary is 10 LPA. The average salary is 4 LPA - 6 LPA. Top recruiters including Sobha Construction, L&T, etc.
Infrastructure: Our campus is kind of small with only 3 academic blocks. There's Wi-Fi in every corner of the college. We have a small library, an amphitheater, a very small volleyball court, and a huge ground. We also have ample parking spots for both students and faculty members.
Faculty: Teachers are more like friends. They are super chill yet extremely good at teaching their field of interest. The course curriculum is outdated but it has been updated for the upcoming students. Semester exams are a bit difficult. The pass percentage is kind of low.
Other: We have our tech fest Excel, which is a 3 day long fest including Proshow, games, lots of workshops, and tech events.

Q:   Where can a candidate check MEC Kochi cutoff 2023?
A:

Candidates can check the cutoff rank on Shiksha.com where the cutoff rank of every candidate is mentioned in a proper manner as it is a trusted platform. Undoubtly, the trust on this website is also too high just because it provides exact information to the students without any mistakes. Other than this we can also prefer the official website of the MEC College where all the information is mentioned.
