MDes is the Postdergrauate level flagship programme offered by the MIT Institute of Design. MDes is offered in various specialisation. For admission at MIT Institute of Design (MITID), the process begins with filling out the application form through MITID’s official website by giving the required personal and academic details and paying an application fee of INR 3,000 for Indian nationals and INR 4,500 for PIO, NRI, OCI and foreign nationals. The institute releases the admit card after verifying the application forms.

After completing the application process, candidates will be required to appear for the MITID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) in which applicants will be evaluated on several parameters and based on their performance in the DAT they will be shortlisted for the Studio test & Personal Interview (PI) rounds.

Candidates who qualify for both rounds will be required to report to the admission cell at MIT Institute of Design (MITID) will have to report to the admission cell at MITID for document verification and tuition fee payment leading to final seat allotment.
No, in my knowledge there is no other way of entering the institute without giving the MIT DAT exams.
DAT includes questions which are objective, subjective and a drawing test. The objective and subjective selections will be conducted on computer for drawing the question will be on the screen but the canditate must draw on a A4 sheet . In the second round, a personal interview and portfolio review will be done and the results will be declared on the MITID websites.
The marks are as followed for Design Aptitude Test it is 25 for Portfolio review 25 marks and Personal Interview 50 marks.
MIT Institute in Design does not provide direct admisison to their flagship courses. The candidates are required to appear for the MIT DAT (Design Aptitude Test), an entrance test conducted by the MIT Institute of Design (Pune), MIT University of Design Alandi Pune, Avantika University (Ujjain), and MIT University Meghalaya for admission Design Programmes.
