NID Gandhinagar MDes Courses & Fees 2025: Specialisations, Eligibility & Selection, Admission Process

NID Gandhinagar MDes course admission is a multi-step process. The admission procedure begins with the exam online registration and ends with the final seat allotment and fee payment along with physical document verification. The admission stages are also explained below for the candidates reference:

STEP 1: In the first step, candidates need to complete the NID exam application form. The applications are accepted by the institute in online mode.

STEP 2: Candidates who applied successfully need to appear for the NID DAT entrance test. The national-level examination is conducted across 22 cities in India.

STEP 3: The results are declared after the exam is conducted successfully. NID may list cutoff list as well with the minimum score required for MDes admission. 

STEP 4: Candidates with a score equal to or more than the cutoff are allotted provisional offer letters. These candidates can then take part in counselling/seat allotment procedure.

STEP 5: In the last step of the admission procedure, subsequent allotment rounds are carried out by the institute. After the seats are allotted, candidates are asked to pay the full course fees. Then the selected candidates will have to report at the respective NID campus for the physical verification of documents.

No, the candidate is not allowed to carry the question paper of the NID exam with them after conclusion of the exam. In fact, the question papers of NID will not be released neither for that Prelims or that Mains. The reason for the non release of the question paper is because the NID question papers are highly subjective in nature. The question paper of NID DAT will be set in English language. Note that the candidate can download unofficial versions of the NID question papers released by the coaching institutes. These question papers will be mostly memory-based, compiled with the help of questions shared by candidates.

NID application form 2024 is now closed; the online application opened on September 8, 2023. The application form was open online at admissions.nid.edu. The NID application form is for admission to the B. Des and M.Des courses offered by participating colleges. The candidate had the option to fill out the application form with both regular and late fees. Without late fees, the application form was accepted up to December 5, 2023. Meanwhile, with late fees, the application form was open up to December 7, 2023. 

NID DAT, along with NIFT and UCEED are among the most competitive national-level entrance exams in the country. The fact that there are only 425 seats for the B. Des and 347 seats for the M.Des programme makes it very competitive. But that being said, if the candidate prepares well and with the correct strategy, then the NID DAT exam can be cracked. NID Gandhinagar offers full-time residential two year MDes courses at the PG level. MDes is offered to students across seven disciplines. Admission to the course is entrance-based.
