The eligibility criteria for PhD course admissions at the National Institute of Technology Sikkim for Engineering department is that candidates should have passed Bachelor (BE/B.Tech) and Master degree (ME/M.Tech) in relavant discipline of
Engineering/Technology with a minimum of 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA in both. Moreover, for Basic Science and English department, the eligibility criteria is that candidates should have passed master degree in relavant discipline of Science/English with
a minimum of 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA.

The NIT Sikkim CSE average package or other placement details are not out yet. However, the overall placement percentage for BTech has been released. During 2024 placements, 75.37% of BTech students were placed. Earlier, 83.70% of BTech students were placed in the 2023 drive. NIT Sikkim offers a four-year BTech programme in  five specialisations for the BTech programme, which include Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical & Electronics Engineering. NIT Sikkim admission to the flagship BTech course is completely entrance-based. Interested candidates are required to apply and appear for JEE Main.

• Candidates seeking admission at NIT Sikkim are required to complete the application form for the course-specific entrance exam. After appearing for the respective entrance exams, candidates have to apply for the counselling process for the final seat allotment.
• For its flagship BTech course, NIT Sikkim admits students with a valid JEE Main score and are allotted seats through JoSAA Counselling. Admission to M.Tech is done through GATE, followed by CCMT Counselling. Similarly for MSc admission, IIT JAM and CCMN Counselling are required. However, PhD admission requires to appear in the Institution entrance exam and PI. Additionally, NIT Sikkim conducts IAT (Institute Admission Test),  for admission to the left-over seats from the CCMN and CCMNT counselling for MSc/MTech.
• The cutoff for BTech, MTech, and MSc courses is released by the respective counselling bodies.The shortlisted candidates are then required to pay the admission fee to confirm their seats.

Yes, NIT Sikkim be considered a good college for engineering. The institute is an autonomous institute recognised by the UGC and approved by the AICTE. While its recent NIRF 2024 ranking places it in the 151-200 band for engineering, and its median placement packages are modest at around INR 8.50 LPA for B.Tech. The mess cost almost Rs. 130 for three-time meals per day. The quality of the mess food is good and depends on the students only. At first, the mess provided us with quality food. Then they decreased the quality gradually, but when the students complained, they added many food items to the mess menu and increased the quality of the food.
