The eligibility criteria for PhD course admissions at the National Institute of Technology Sikkim for Engineering department is that candidates should have passed Bachelor (BE/B.Tech) and Master degree (ME/M.Tech) in relavant discipline of
Engineering/Technology with a minimum of 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA in both. Moreover, for Basic Science and English department, the eligibility criteria is that candidates should have passed master degree in relavant discipline of Science/English with
a minimum of 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA.

NIT offered PhD in multiple specialisations. PhD is offered in bothe part-time and full-time mode. Find below the speiclisations:

During 2024 placements, 75.37% of BTech students were placed. Earlier, 83.70% of BTech students were placed in the 2023 drive. NIT Sikkim admission procedure 2025 for all the courses is different. Candidates have to apply via various national level entrance exam and central counselling to get admission into the institute. Find below NIT Sikkim admission process 2025:

• Candidates seeking admission at NIT Sikkim are required to complete the application form for the course-specific entrance exam. After appearing for the respective entrance exams, candidates have to apply for the counselling process for the final seat allotment.
• For its flagship BTech course, NIT Sikkim admits students with a valid JEE Main score and are allotted seats through JoSAA Counselling. Admission to M.Tech is done through GATE, followed by CCMT Counselling. Similarly for MSc admission, IIT JAM and CCMN Counselling are required. However, PhD admission requires to appear in the Institution entrance exam and PI. Additionally, NIT Sikkim conducts IAT (Institute Admission Test),  for admission to the left-over seats from the CCMN and CCMNT counselling for MSc/MTech.
• The cutoff for BTech, MTech, and MSc courses is released by the respective counselling bodies.The shortlisted candidates are then required to pay the admission fee to confirm their seats.

National Institute of Technology Sikkim provides various undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes through nine departments. These departments are mentioned below:

NIT Sikkim, the the highest package offered during 2025 was INR 44 LPA. The brochure, 75.37% of BTech students were placed during the 2024 drive.  NIT Sikkim course admissions are entrance-based. For admission to its BTech programme, NIT Sikkim accepts the JEE Main scores, followed by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling. NIT Sikkim admission to M.Tech and MSc programmes is based on GATE and IIT JAM scores, respectively. After qualifying for the respective entrance exams, interested candidates must apply for the relevant counselling sessions, such as JoSAA, CCMN and CCMT, to gain admission to various courses offered by the institute.
