The eligibility criteria for the BTech specialisations includes twelve years of shcool education with 75% aggregate. National entrance exams is the source of admission for the BTech programme.
The basic eligibility to apply to the PhD course is a PG degree in the relevant stream with a 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA in BTech/ Mtech from any recognised university or 85% in BTech from any NIT/ IIT/ IIIT/ Other CFTIs. For SC/ST/PwD candidates, a relaxation of 5% marks or 0.5 CGPA will be considered. Further, the selection procedure includes appearing for the Institute based entrance exam and personal interview.
Yes, there is an M.Tech programme offered at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Sikkim. The institute offers M.Tech in three specialisations: Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Communication Engineering and Control Power and Electric Drives. The M.Tech programme at NIT Sikkim is a two-year full-time course. M.Tech admission selection includes Bachelor's Degree with a minimum 60% and a valid score of GATE/CCMT entrance exam.

- For its flagship BTech course, NIT Sikkim admits students with a valid JEE Main score and are allotted seats through JoSAA Counselling. Admission to M.Tech is done through GATE, followed by CCMT Counselling. Similarly for MSc admission, IIT JAM and CCMN Counselling are required. However, PhD admission requires to appear in the Institution entrance exam and PI. Additionally, NIT Sikkim conducts IAT (Institute Admission Test), for admission to the left-over seats from the CCMN and CCMNT counselling for MSc/MTech.
- The cutoff for BTech, MTech, and MSc courses is released by the respective counselling bodies.The shortlisted candidates are then required to pay the admission fee to confirm their seats.
