The hidden gem - NBMC&H.
Placements: This college provides internship in the associated hospital. The hospital load is too much. Stipends to interns are provided on time. Last year, the government of West Bengal increased the stipend by 10,000 for interns, and there is 5% increment in stipend per year.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure and facilities in the academics are well built, but they lag behind in the hostel. Library is fully air conditioned and has a permanent Wi-Fi facility. The hostel is also very pockets friendly. It consists of 12 rupees per month. The campus is too huge.
Faculty: The faculty of this college is friendly, qualified, helpful, and knowledgeable. They are ready to help anyone at any time. The exams are held every 3 months to keep track of students performance. If anyone has studied well, then he/she can easily crack the exam.

Absolutely I am satisfied with the faculty members, college infrastructure, etc.
Placements: Campus placements were not conventionally conducted. Mandatory one-year internship was conducted at NBMCH with a stipend. Top recruiting companies/hospitals were government hospitals, private hospitals, NGOs, etc. Top roles offered were medical officer, junior residents, president doctors, etc.
Infrastructure: Campus was spread around 161 acres, one of the largest medical campuses in India. Wi-Fi and internet were available all over campus. It provided fully equipped labs for anatomy, physiology, microbiology, etc. There was a central library with huge amount of books, journals, digital resources, etc. Quality of food was good and served with hygiene.
Faculty: Teachers were well qualified with their degree. They were experienced in most departments, especially medicine, surgery, and pediatrics. Exams were held by WBUHS pattern like theory, viva, and practical after each phase. There were 3 phases in this course, each phase was for 1 year.

Dissatisfied with the faculty.
Placements: The percentage of students who were placed last year is low. Around 30 percent of students only got placement according to their skills. Majorly students have to find jobs themselves. No proper guidance and instruction was given by the faculty members and placement cell.
Infrastructure: The quality of the hostel is bad among other facilities of the college, had a bad experience in the hostel with no proper quality of food also. The classrooms are not too big and clean enough. But have a huge playground and court for playing and labs with old instruments and equipment.
Faculty: Teachers and staff faculty are knowledgeable and qualified but teach in their own way. But some of them were kind and helpful to students. Semester exams were easy to pass, students passed easily by studying just before the exam with a minimum passing percentage of 40 percent.

There is good patient inflow, & a lot to learn. Hostels are average with good infrastructure.
Placements: There are 200 students in each batch. They complete their course in 4.5 years and 1 year of internship, so in total, it's 5.5 years. After completing the course, they are doctors. Out of 200 students, only 10-15 students clear NEET PG, and the remaining students do the house staffship.
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is good, but the hostels are below average. There is no cleanliness on the entire campus. The hostel washrooms, corridors, and everything are dirty. In the 1st year, they accommodate 5 students in 1 room. It is very congested.
Faculty: The professors do their work properly, but the course is a bit difficult, so the exams are tough to pass. Most of the time, we study on our own because the lectures are only for 1 hour, and we learn only 1 topic there. But in self-study, we'll learn 3-4 topics in 1 hour.
Other: The MBBS course is awesome. So, if you are doing MBBS from any government college, you will get to enjoy.

Good clinical exposure and poor hostel facilities.
Placements: Most students went for PG, so placements were not very large, but around 80% received job offers. The average package was 6–7 LPA, with the highest being 12 LPA. Internships were 100% in government hospitals, with roles like JR and MO. Some joined private hospitals like Apollo and Fortis. The college was good for clinicals.
Infrastructure: Facilities were okay. Labs and library were decent, but the classrooms needed an upgrade. The hostel was average, and the food was manageable but not very good. The Wi-Fi was slow. There was a sports ground, but it was not well maintained. Medical facilities were available 24x7. Overall, it was quite good..
Faculty: Teachers were qualified and helpful, but some did not teach well. The curriculum was good and make us ready for PG or government jobs. The exams were tough and required regular study. The pass percentage was around 80–85%. Some subjects were tricky, but overall manageable if you stayed consistent.
Other: I chose MBBS out of passion. The clinical exposure was the best here. The hostel and Wi-Fi needed improvement. The crowd was mixed. The fests were okay. There was a good patient load. The campus was far from the city, and connectivity was poor. Some students received scholarships.

Good medical exposure with helpful faculty, but needs better infrastructure and hostel facilities.
Placements: I am from the MBBS batch of 2019 of North Bengal Medical College. In MBBS there was no placement like other courses. After the final year, all students do a 1-year internship in a hospital. 100% students get it. The package depends on a government or private job after MBBS. Mostly, students go for PG or a government job. Average salary as a fresh doctor was around 60,000 to 80,000 per month.
Infrastructure: North Bengal Medical College has old but usable infrastructure. Labs were okay, with basic instruments available for practicals. Classrooms are big but not very modern. Some have projectors, some do not. Wi-Fi was available but not reliable everywhere. Library was decent, with a good number of medical books and space to study.
Faculty: Teachers at North Bengal Medical College were mostly experienced, qualified, and had good medical knowledge. Some were very helpful and explained nicely, but a few were strict and less interactive. Teaching quality depends on the department. Some teach well, others just complete the syllabus.
Other: The best thing about the course was that you get real-life experience from the early years. Clinical exposure was good, and the hospital has variety of cases to learn from. Teachers also guide well during award duties. But college needs improvement in infrastructure, hostel maintenance, and cleanliness. Lecture halls and labs should be upgraded. Internship and PG guidance can also be better.
