PCE BTech Minimum Eligibility 

Eligibility for admissions to the first year of 4 year BTech programmes.

Candidates seeking admission to BE/BTech courses should have complied with the norms prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The norms would be the marks secured in the higher secondary board examinations and the marks obtained from competitive exams such as TNPCEE/CET.

Lateral Entry for Diploma Candidates

A pass with prescribed eligibility marks in any one of the Diploma in the appropriate branch of Engineering/Technology of the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Tamil Nadu / equivalent prescribed for admission to the Degree course. BSc Candidates:
A pass with prescribed eligibility marks in any recognized Bachelors Degree in Science of minimum 3 years duration with 10+2+3 years pattern and studied core Mathematics as one of the subjects at degree level.)

PCE BTech Admission and Selection Process 

Admissions to the first year of 4 year BTech programmes are offered on the basis of TNEA counselling. Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions Test abbreviated as TNEA is conducted by Anna University for admissions to various engineering colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu. TNEA counselling is a single-window process and admissions in Tamil Nadu engineering colleges are offered through such a process because authorities believe that such an initiative facilitates transparency.

TNEA Selection Process

The final TNEA Merit list of the qualifying candidates is prepared on the basis of the normalized marks scored by candidates (across all boards), and the final TNEA rank list is prepared on the following factors:

• Percentage of marks in Mathematics
• Percentage of marks in Physics
• Percentage of marks in Chemistry
• Percentage of marks in the 4th optional subject
• Date of Birth (elder candidates are given preference)
• TNEA rank list is published depending on the overall rank, community-wise and region-wise. 

TNEA Counselling Procedure

TNEA is a gateway through which lakhs of students are admitted into Tamil Nadu engineering colleges through the counselling process. TNEA is a single-window counselling process. The TNEA counselling process mostly commences in the third week of June every year. The entire TNEA counselling process is spread over five stages which are:

• Application Issue & Submission
• Application Scrutiny
• Random Number and Rank Publication
• Counseling Call Letter Despatch
• Single Window Counselling

PCE BTech Application Process 

The candidates will have to fill out the TNEA application forms. We request the candidates to check the eligibility criteria before submitting the application forms. It is mandatory for the candidates to meet the minimum eligibility criteria, failing which their candidature is subjected to cancellation.         

TNEA Application Process

• TNEA 2018 Application Form will be made available in online mode only. The candidates shall first opt for registration process with personal and academic details.
• After successful registration, the candidates can now pay the application fee online via Net Banking/Debit Card/ Credit Card or through a demand draft drawn in favor of "The Secretary, Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions, Anna University".
• Candidates will also have to send the filled-in TNEA Application either in person or by post along with photocopies of mark sheet, proof of age and copies of all other relevant certificates to the Secretary, TNEA, Anna University, Chennai, on or before the last date.
• The reserved category candidates (SC/SCA/ST) candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu desirous of availing registration fee concession should submit a photocopy of the Permanent Community Certificate Card or electronic form/digitally signed e-certificate.
• All the demand drafts of the prescribed application fee should be drawn in favor of “The Secretary (TNEA), Anna University” payable at Chennai.

Candidates will also have to enclose the following certificates along with the application forms:

In Original-

• Filled-in Coding Sheet
• Special Reservation Form (s) and photocopy of relevant certificate (s) with DD - if applicable

Photocopy of-

• 10th Mark Sheet
• HSC/Equivalent Mark Sheet
• Transfer Certificate
• Permanent Community Certificate Card for ST, SC, SCA, MBC & DNC, BC and BCM candidates (either permanent card or electronic form/digitally signed e-certificate)
• HSC Hall Ticket
• Nativity Certificate only in electronic form/digitally signed e-Certificate – if applicable
• First Graduate Certificate and First Graduate Joint Declaration (only in electronic form/digitally signed e-certificate will be accepted) – if applicable
• Srilankan Tamil Refugee certificate – if applicable

General instructions: 

• The candidates will first have to enter their TNEA registration number as printed in the coding sheet correctly and legibly in all the enclosures.
• Then encircle the code numbers wherever specified for the entries applicable.
• Tick the qualifying examination passed on the application cover.
• Enclose the relevant certificates wherever asked for along with the application. Submission of certificates at a later date shall not be accepted.
• Tick the Nativity, Qualifying Examination & Special Reservation and write the address on the application cover.
• The application along with all the enclosures tied up and coding sheet kept as loose sheet should reach The Secretary, Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions, Anna University, Chennai – 600 025 on or before the last date.
• Candidates will be required to send print out of filled-in online application form before the last date either by post or in person to the following address:

The admissions cycle and application process for admissions to the 4 year BE/BTech programmes commences with the TNEA application submissions and ends with the seat allocation process. The seats are allotted to the candidates on the basis of their scores and availability of seats in their choice of course.
