B.Tech. in Civil Engineering - Batch of 2024
4.0
Great infrastructure, helpful faculty, and good placements.
Placements: Above 40% of students got placed. The highest package is 4.5 LPA and the lowest package is 2.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Tata Power and DSP Consultancy. Top role offered is junior engineer and most sales roles are offered The placement cell diagnoses every student and filters them according to their respective genres.
Infrastructure: We have clean and perfect internet-covered library, digitally boarded classrooms, top-notch labs around our Ganjam district. Food in mess is great. We have 2 big playgrounds and hostel is in the perfect location. We have all type of indoor as well outdoor sports facilities.
Faculty: Teachers are great and supportive. Civil is a demanding branch. Exams are tough and above 33% are passing marks. You have to attend all the classes, submit the projects, and attend seminars, and webinars. Viva is tough. Surprise tests are conducted every week The course makes students industry-ready but you have to be punctual and consistent in the classroom.
Other: I was interested in civil works so I chose this course. Some more skills like digital skills, events, and fests are famous last time Nakash Aziz performed on the fest campus, it had great vibe.

Review of Parala Maharaja Engineering College, Biju Patnaik University of Technology.
Placements: The course of civil engineering is good for those who want government jobs. There are 200 students studying in my batch and there are 70% boys and 30% girls. There are no scope for placements in our civil engineering branch.
Infrastructure: Labs and classrooms are good in our college. We attended classes 5 days a week and 3 labs taken by faculty members. All labs are mandatory and each lab contains 10 marks for attendance and also class contains marks for attendance. Teachers give marks based on attendance.
Faculty: There are good faculty members, we have 50 faculty members in our college. Approximately 20 teachers in our civil engineering branch, and they all are good. They always give their 100% to finish the course but they don't co-operate with the students to get passing marks.
Other: The infrastructure of our college should be developed.

College Review of PARALA MAHARAJA ENGINEERING COLLEGE.
Placements: Parala Maharaja Engineering College, Berhampur has a dedicated Training and Placement cell to assist students in internship and job placements. This year till now the recruitment companies are providing an average package of Rs 3.5-5 LPA. The training and placement cell helps students connect with companies offering internships. PSUs like NTPC, NALCO, OHPC, and DRDO are providing internship opportunities for the students.
Infrastructure: Campus life is very good in this college. The campus is full of greenery. The garden is very beautiful and well-maintained. There is one 4-storey central library present inside the campus which is inaugurated this year, all types of books are available in the central library. There is one reference room inside the college's main building where you will get a PC and internet service to study.
Faculty: The course curriculum is very good but syllabus completion is the biggest cons of this institute and the only reason behind this is BPUT, Rourkela. Who controls this college along with many other colleges like IGIT Sarang, GCE Keonjhar, GCE Kalahandi, etc? There is mostly theoretical knowledge rather than practical knowledge. The teaching methods of the teachers are very nice many of the teachers also give questions from previous year's GATE papers and encourage us to prepare for exams like GATE, UPSC, ESE, and many more.
Other: Parala Maharaja Engineering College (P.M.E.C), Berhampur came into existence in the year 2009 on April 26th, as a constituent Government Engineering College of Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Odisha, India with an area of nearly 80 acres. Now this college facts as a Government Autonomous college affiliated with BPUT, Odisha from the year 2021. This college is one of the premier technical institutes in the state and is funded by the Government of Odisha. It has 8 B.Tech programmes and 5 M.Tech programmes with 10 departments.

"PMEC: Nurturing Future Engineers Through Innovation and Excellence.
Placements: The college has a placement cell that organizes programs and seminars to prepare students for placement. Companies like Tata, Tisco, TCS, Nalco, Mahindra, Wipro, and Infosys come to our college to offer placement opportunities.
Infrastructure: This college is located in the Sitalapali area. The campus is spread out over a large area, about 80 acres. The classrooms have a seating capacity of 200 students. The college has its own central library, two workshops, and labs for every subject. There is a canteen and a utility block where you can buy everything you need for school and personal use. The college has two sports grounds, one for kabadi, kho-kho, volleyball, and cricket, and the other for the NCC shooting range.
Faculty: There are more than enough faculty members in every branch, especially in civil. The teachers are good and they teach very well. The semester exams are moderately easy to pass.
Other: The college is a crowded place with approximately 2 to 2.5 thousand students. There are various clubs like Cadence for song and dance, Robotics for designing, Sanskruti for classical art, Abhyudaya for anchors, Kalakar for acting, start-up club, ED cell, and others. There are so many extracurricular activities like nukkad natak, college fest, sports events like Arena and Shourya, and each and every festival is celebrated.

Deep inside Parala Maharaja Engineering College.
Placements: During my course, the placement scenario is absolutely poor, as no civil engineering company visited this college. The college is only good for CSE and other such branches. In the civil branch, no student got any internship, and mostly the students have to do project work in college.
Infrastructure: All laboratories are well-equipped with internet and Wi-Fi, but the college has limited Wi-Fi usage to 30 MB only. Besides all this, as this is a government college, all classrooms and the hostel have good infrastructure. In the hostels, meals are provided at a very fair price, and every year, a sports festival is also conducted to encourage sports activities in students. In college, all kinds of sports materials and equipment are available and are issued to students.
Faculty: All the professors are well qualified, but the problem is that, except for a few professors, most of them are not interested in teaching, and they teach very poorly. The teaching quality is somehow very poor. BPUT courses are very outdated and are not at all helpful to students. All students can pass exams by studying previous year's questions the night before, and the pass percentage is around eighty percent, as some also fail in semesters.
Other: I chose this course because I have a lot of interest in civil engineering, and the best thing about this course is that it prepares you for government exams. The course needs to be updated and made to prepare students for industry. Each and every year, induction programs, cultural fests, and campus startup programs are conducted, which brings a lot of excitement among students. Many different kinds of clubs, like NSS, Cadence, Sanskruti, etc., are there for extracurricular activities, and each and every year, the government of Odisha provides scholarships to students.

Parala Maharaja Engineering College.
Placements: 40-50% of students are placed, while others prepare themselves for higher studies and other sectors. Companies like Tata Power, Apmosis, and many IT sectors have given students the opportunity to work for them, and the average package may differ from 6-7 LPA.
Infrastructure: All the faculty members hold Ph.D. degrees and are the best. The courses are completed on time during the academic sessions, with regular exams. Separate hostels are provided for 1st-year students, and the hostels are well-furnished with two students in one room, providing spacious rooms. All activities can also be carried out.
Faculty: Academic sessions are completed according to the BPUT regulations, and the teachers are well aware of the syllabus. Their operation and dedication to the students are excellent. Semester exams are set by BPUT, with an average level where all students can perform well.
Other: I chose civil engineering because it somehow changes the perspective of a student after completing graduation, as you can work in the public sector as well as the private sector or in the self-sustaining sector. All events are conducted during certain times, and the campus is surrounded by greenery and all kinds of animals.

Review of Parala Maharaja Engineering College.
Placements: Never expect any placement from this college; it provides the worst placement in the core branch and many companies also come here for the computer science branch but very few companies for the core branch and many got selected for marketing jobs, which is the worst.
Infrastructure: The hostel is very good, like all government colleges but the food is not at all good. Here, they provide very oily food which is very bad for health and they also sometimes give stale food for which many students suffer a lot and there is no good hostel nearby.
Faculty: Faculty are well educated but they poorly teach in the classroom; they do not think much about students and if they do, they will fail you in internal exams and this can also ruin your chances of sitting in placement drives, which is the worst part .
Other: Everything is good and has value for money.

A brief description of PMEC, Berhampur.
Placements: Placements are quite impressive in our college for the computer science branch, as many companies conduct placement drives. The average package is around 4.5 lacs for the computer science and engineering branch, and most students in my class got internships.
Infrastructure: The hostel infrastructure is very impressive, and for a government college, it is quite good. The food quality in the hostel is just average and sometimes very bad. The college conducts many events, and sports events are also conducted once a year.
Faculty: The faculty members are well-trained; they are very experienced and talented as well. But some faculty members are not at all cooperative, and they can be rude to students. However, most faculty members complete the course on time and also conduct exams in a smooth way.
Other: As it is a government college and very affordable, that's why I chose this college.
