So basically, if you are willing to have good placements and be successful.
Placements: So basically, in my course, the strength of the students is not that much, which means the competition criteria is not very high, resulting in good placements. I'm currently in batch 1, and the total batches in my passing stream are 3. The eligibility criteria to sit for placements is 8+ CGPA, which every student should have for their own benefit. The highest package in my college is recorded as 50 LPA, which is recently offered in 2024, whereas the average top package is 17 LPA, which I think is good for a beginner.
Infrastructure: So TBH, I am not living in the campus hostel as the campus hostel serves non-veg food, and I have been a vegan from birth. So I avoid living inside the college campus. But I have seen some facilities and also heard more from my friends, like good infrastructure with good-speed Wi-Fi, properly furnished rooms with no smelly gallery, separate balconies, and many more. Medical facilities and other curricular activities are also available on campus in different places with different rules.
Faculty: Teachers are really working hard to help us understand concepts by being strict, which I really appreciate now as a mature student. Many extracurricular activities are also there, for example, I am an applied petroleum student, so I participated in course-related clubs that include quizzes directly connected to my course and help me with my academics. However, the semester exams are not that tough to pass, if you study well and keep up with the teacher, then there’s no reason to be stressed about them.

UPES Review- an aerospace engineer.
Placements: The top recruitment companies are Tata Technology and L&T. The roles include many opportunities such as starting as an intern and then securing a position by performing well. The internship opportunities are for pre-final year students.
Infrastructure: The hostel facilities are average. The infrastructure is quite great on the campus but the food offered is not that great. There are a lot of opportunities in terms of sports.
Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified and the course content is also relevant. The semester exams are moderate in terms of difficulty. The pass percentage is 35. The examinations are conducted in 2 sections, one is the mid semester and the other one is the end semester.
Other: The events are organised frequently which boosts the social life of the students.

UPES: EXPLORE THE PLACE FOR OPPORTUNITIES.
Placements: Currently, we have 35 students in our batch. We have been enrolled this year. Top recruiting companies are Reliance Industries, ONGC, Cairn India, Oil India Limited, Bharat Petroleum Limited, TotalEnergies, Schlumberger, and Halliburton. Top roles are reservoir engineer, drilling engineer, production engineer, petroleum geologist, and project engineer. The highest package is 15–25 lacs, the average package is 8–12 lacs, and the lowest package is 4–6 lacs. Around 65%–80% of students got internships among the following companies: ONGC, Cairn India, and Reliance Industries Limited, etc.
Infrastructure: It has a range of facilities and infrastructure designed to support academic as well as practical learning. UPES has specialized laboratory facilities for drilling, production, and reservoir engineering. Classrooms are well-lit with punching machines for attendance, but both campuses face difficulties in the case of a weak Wi-Fi signal around the campus. Libraries are equipped with proper sitting facilities and all sorts of fiction and nonfiction books.
Faculty: The faculty members were quite helpful, and mostly they are Ph.D. holders, and their notes were helpful in the semester exams. The course is well-designed according to industry requirements and standards, and internships provide diverse knowledge in every sector. Semester exams are quite moderate, each and every question is taught in the lectures, and 75% are able to fulfill the passing criteria.
Other: The main advantage of choosing this college was its placements, internships, and location, which were all suitable for me as I had to pursue my course in B.Tech in Petroleum, and it had tie-ups with some of the renowned institutions, such as ONGC, etc., and its NIRF ranking in the engineering sector is great. I would like to focus more on practical projects and some tours to understand the culture and work-life balance of a petroleum engineer. There are events like Utsav, a campus surrounded by greenery, and scholarships for both boys and girls on the basis of JEE/12th results and for domiciles of Uttarakhand.

I am absolutely satisfied with the course but not with the college.
Placements: The percentage of students who got placed is 100%. The highest package is 25 LPA and the lowest package ranges from 7-8 LPA. Top recruiting companies for our course are Vedanta, McCain Engineering, etc. Top roles offered in my course are health safety officer for fire and safety officer. All students get internships.
Infrastructure: There are many facilities like a library and Wi-Fi all over the campus. The library is available with all books regarding each course. The quality of the hostel is fine, and the food in the mess is also fine. The medical assistance is quite well.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. They all are PhD holders. The course curriculum is accurate according to the course. It makes students industry-ready. Practicals are also done to easily help us to see what will happen in the industry.

The university is really well established and study is all good.
Placements: Almost 100% of students can get placement, but only if their academics are good and they have no active backlogs. The lowest package starts from 3 LPA and goes up to 18 LPA. Amazon and Google are some of the top recruiters. After the first year, all students get an internship in the Srijan internship program.
Infrastructure: The university is well-established. The other facilities are also fine. Although the fees are pretty high, the university tries to provide all facilities in every aspect. Hostels are available for both boys and girls. Hostel prices start from 160,000 lacs per year. Hostels are also very good and provide all types of facilities such as a mess, canteen, medical facilities, sports, Wi-Fi, etc.
Faculty: All teachers are well-qualified, but most of them are freshers. However, their way of teaching is top-notch, and the classrooms are also very well-established for advanced studies. The university gives its best to make students industry-ready. The semester exams are pretty difficult, but if you study well, you will surely score well. The passing marks are 35 out of 100.

Life at UPES amidst the mountains.
Placements: 80% of students got placed. The highest package for core branches like mechanical and petroleum is around 50 LPA. The minimum package is 5 LPA. Top recruiting companies include Tata, Mahindra, Reliance, and Airbus. Students at my college have to complete 3 internships at the end of every year. First, we have a social internship in NGOs for volunteer work. After the second year, we have to work as an intern at a startup. Lastly, the major internships are provided by college in companies like Tata and government agencies. Students can take internships on their own too.
Infrastructure: I live outside the hostel. But the facility and infrastructure of college are worth the fee, especially labs. Even the library is very well built. We have doctors available in the college for any medical aid. Regular sports events are held on both campuses of UPES.
Faculty: The teaching faculty members are very helpful and qualified. One can ask doubts outside the syllabus as faculty members are very friendly. A few can be exceptions. The course is regularly updated to cater the needs of the industry. Around 80% of students pass the exams. 50% of the paper is easy. 25% is tricky and the rest is tough.
Other: Mechanics as how machines work fascinated me so I chose this course. Matlab a matrix programming software is my favourite part of it. It can be a little more organised in its portals. Many events like Urja with celebrities like Darshan Rawal take place. We also have Garba and Sufi nights along with sports fests and RC racing.
