B.Sc. in Biochemistry, Genetics and Biotechnology - Batch of 2025
Offered by School of Sciences, Jain Deemed-to-be University, Bangalore

Dissatisfied because of bad campus and no placements.
Placements: In our batch, hardly 2 students got placed, that too in an insurance company whereas our degree is related to biotechnology. The package was 2.5 LPA - 3 LPA. The recruiting company was named GoDigit. It offered sales type of role. Why would I join a sales role when my specialization is in biotechnology?
Infrastructure: Campus is bad. It has no playground. Poor Wi-Fi and the labs are all poorly built. There is no hostel available. The campus is small and the auditorium doesn't even qualify to be a godown. There are no sports facilities or playgrounds and the fests are all bad and they ask money for them.
Faculty: Some teachers are good and others are average. The curriculum doesn't make students industry-ready. The semester exams are not that difficult to pass and these people take a huge amount of exam fees and if a student gets a backlog they ask for Rs. 10,000- Rs. 11,000 for reappearing. Just pure greed.
Other: This course has no scope in India but the college doesn't even help to make us industry-ready. The internships provided here are all paid where we have to pay an amount of Rs. 4,000- Rs. 5,000.

Life in Jain School of Science .
Placements: The average salary after B.Sc. Biotechnology starts from INR 3.2 LPA to 4.5 LPA. Students can also opt for an M.Sc. in research if they have a 7.5 SGPA in every semester. 4 offline internships are mandatory for getting admission to the M.Sc. Jobs offered in this course are lab assistants and food inspectors. People can also go to research-related fields or to pharmaceutical companies.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good. Labs and classrooms are well-equipped. There is not much exposure in campus but hostel is really good. Hostel food is really good, and they provide a good variety of food. They provide pure vegetarian Jain food. canteen facility is also there on campus.
Faculty: The best thing about this college is the faculty.. Both teaching and non-teaching staffs are really helpful. Faculty members are very good. The exams they conduct are not really hard but strict. Students need to score 20 out of 50 to pass internal as well as external examinations.
Other: B.Sc. Biotechnology is a 3-year undergraduate programme that focuses on the application of technology to study cellular and biomolecular processes. It is available in full-time, part-time, or distance learning formats. Biotechnology is a science that uses living organisms and biological processes to produce products that advance healthcare, medicine, agriculture, food, pharmaceuticals, and environmental control.

Great environment, experience and campus life .
Placements: 40% students placed in campus interviews till now. The highest package is 8 lpa and the lowest is 3.5 and the average is 4-5 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Tcs, Infosys, Capgemini, IBM, Accenture, Ugam solutions, Hexaware and many more. 20% students are placed in small companies. The roles offered in my course are research assistant and lab assistant.
Infrastructure: We have Wi-Fi facility with good internet speed. We have 6 labs and each lab has Wi-Fi, printer and scanner. There is server room which handles all the machines in the 6 labs. Our college have library and projector facility for presentation, workshops and seminars.
Faculty: Our faculty is caring and knowledgeable. They always tried to give us best knowledge and they are supportive and have best teaching skill. Our curriculum is quite better because we have knowledge for industries which cover our curriculum. Semester exams are also good. Our passing percentage is 70-80%.
Other: Absolutely satisfied with our placement cell. They always try for better placements and give best companies. I chose my course because now a days it's booming. We don't have hostel but we have great canteen and campus and college fests are also great.

Infrastructure is bad because it's located in the city but the education is really good.
Placements: The placement cell is okay. They will help you if you are really looking for a job after B.Sc. Internships will not be provided from college, you have to search for your own. The courses are really good. There are very few colleges that offer all 3 applied courses, Jain is 1 of them.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi will not be provided in college. Labs are too small, but each batch will have minimum students so it isn't an issue. It seems Jain hostels are best, that's what my classmates who lived there told, but prices are high.
Faculty: Teachers are knowledgeable. But they don't make students industry-ready at least not after B.Sc. Semester exams are not set by our teachers. Lab knowledge is above average but isn't excellent. Still, you will learn a lot of things which help you gain knowledge.
Other: I wanted to do medical, but couldn't crack it. So I choose this course since engine wasn't my choice and I don't regret it.

Satisfied with the syllabus of course, and Master's students get placed.
Placements: For placements, around 30% of our seniors who were pursuing their Master’s students were placed. In our case, we were Bachelor's, and not everyone applied for placements. It was actually very rare to see any placement drives happening or companies visiting. The lowest package was 2 LPA, the average package was 11 LPA, and the highest package was 21 LPA.
Infrastructure: Now when I’ve left the college, I understand how good the infrastructure at Jain actually was. Labs were hygienic, and well-equipped, and all had the required chemicals. We never felt a lack at any time. There was no Wi-Fi facility available for students. Classrooms were equipped with air-conditioned and clean. The library contained numerous books and was a great hub for gaining knowledge. The hostel food was awesome, and they even provided snacks in the evening.
Faculty: All teachers were knowledgeable, and not all of them were well-qualified. None of them were helpful, except for one or two. Our syllabus was great. It provided a lot of knowledge on the subject and can easily make us industry-ready. The semester exams were neither easy nor very tough, they required 40% to pass.

Hi, For B.Sc courses, you need not appear for JEE since the exam is only for undergraduate engineering courses. Hence, you need to appear for the entrance test conducted by the institute in order to qualify for admission.
