Shivaji College has a great campus.
Placements: The better skills you have, the more chances you have of a placement, since various placement cells that society runs in the college. The maximum chance is that you get placement if you really have a good through of our subject. Various companies also visit the campus, and one very sincere suggestion would be to not only run for the placement, but the real knowledge you will get through college life will not be comparable to any placement.
Infrastructure: Overall, a very good college building and library with 79k books and access to 10 to 20 magazines with 15+ newspapers daily, you will enjoy the prime life. Various labs and the classrooms are very good, new buildings include a lift, which is also a very good option for people with disability to be better helped.
Faculty: Excellent faculty and very experienced ones, a very practical way of teaching and the way of their teaching is excellent. One thing will also be here that there will always be some pros and cons everywhere, but the thing is, if you have very good guidance and such a huge library and such a great sports complex, one of the best under DU and one of the biggest DU sports complexes. Being in college is a very different vibe, either with professors or with any other senior staff members.

B.A. (Hons.) in Geography - Batch of 2027

My college has good infrastructure, and it has all kinds of good facilities.
Placements: 65% students are placed. The highest average package is 7.5 LPA, and the lowest average package is 1.2 LPA. Top recruiting companies for my course are Infosys, Deloitte, etc. 45-50% of students got internships from my course and mostly from the vice chancellor internship scheme (VICS), and others from the Summer Research Internship programme (SRIP). Data Analyst, Urbanists, GIS roles, research, environmental Science, etc., roles are offered.
Infrastructure: About college facilities, specifically the geography department facilities, they are almost good. Wi-Fi, better and longer classrooms with one digital cartography classroom and one geography computer-lab, and also the department has its own library. The college has one canteen and one cafeteria with an average size, and the food is also almost average (it depends on different tenders).
Faculty: Some of the faculty members of my course (Geography Department) are very helpful, qualified, supportive, and knowledgeable. According to the NEP 2020, there should be a change, something like we need to improve students' practical knowledge about geography, like practical use of remote sensing, QGIS, rather than only the theoretical part currently, which is lacking. If I were to rate the difficulty of semester exams, it would be 5 out of 10, which means questions in exams are very predictable, and one or two questions mostly repeat from the previous year's question paper.
Other: I chose this course (geography) because I want to work on data from many geographical areas. I want to analyse them using a DBMS, by using data visualisation using Python, retrieving geographical data using QGIS, in short, I want to become a data analyst. I wish things would be better/improved about my course, which is the study of the practical use of fundamentals of Remote sensing and QGIS in detail for industry-ready.

Good college for everything, whether it is study, exposure, or overall development.
Placements: Good placement ratio with almost 70-80% of students getting placed. Shivaji College has an active Placement Cell, attracting over 100 recruiters like Google, Accenture, Amazon, Deloitte, and TCS. Based on the 2024 placement drive data. The highest package was 24 LPA (reported for a top performer). The average package was approximately 6 LPA. The lowest package was approximately 1.8 LPA, and the median package was 5.4 LPA. The placements are generally strong for Commerce and Business Economics students, with major companies offering roles in consulting, finance, and IT.
Infrastructure: As I'm a Business Economics student, I got into a new building, and it's really amazing. The canteen is not that good but average, and labs are good. The B.A. (Hons.) Business Economics course benefits from the college's general infrastructure. It includes access to computer labs essential for econometric applications and a large, AC-equipped library with extensive digital resources. Newer classrooms in the Jijabai Academic Block are well-maintained. However, the major point to note is the hostel situation. Shivaji College does not have its own hostel facility. Out-of-station students typically reside in the many nearby private paying guest (PG) accommodations.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified. The teaching style is good for understanding everything. The teaching is done in a way that prepares us for the world and jobs. Faculty includes experienced professors, associate professors, and assistant professors across Science, Commerce, and Humanities departments. You'll find a blend of seasoned scholars and younger, research-oriented educators. The curriculum follows the University of Delhi's framework, currently the NEP UGCF 2022. This covers a wide range of subjects, including Honors courses in Commerce, various Sciences (like Botany, Physics, Biochemistry), and Humanities (like English, Economics, Political Science), plus B.A. and B. Com. programs.

A balanced blend of knowledge, opportunities, and growth.
Placements: A total of 80 students are in my class. About the package, I don't have complete information. I don't have enough knowledge about it. In my batch of the B.A. (Hons) Geography course at the University of Delhi, around 65-70 percent of students are successfully placed after completing the program. The highest package offered is approximately 8 LPA, the lowest is around 3 LPA, and the average package stood close to 5 LPA.
Infrastructure: The Geography department is well-equipped for an honours course. It features a modern, dedicated cartography lab and another general geography lab for practicals, both equipped with necessary instruments and modern software like GIS (Geographic Information Systems) for spatial analysis. Classrooms across the college are generally spacious and well-furnished, with many equipped with projectors and Wi-Fi to facilitate audio-visual teaching.
Faculty: Teachers in our course are generally helpful, well-qualified, and knowledgeable in their respective subjects. Most of them hold postgraduate or doctoral degrees and have a good command of their topics, which makes the lectures informative and conceptually strong. They are approachable outside class hours as well and often guide students during projects, internships, and exam preparations. However, a few teachers could improve their teaching methods by including more practical and interactive learning approaches. The course curriculum is fairly relevant and keeps up with the current academic and industry standards.
Other: I chose this course because I have always been deeply interested in understanding how our environment, society, and systems function together. This subject offers a blend of theoretical and practical knowledge that helps build analytical and problem-solving skills, which are essential for both academic and professional growth. It also provides a strong foundation for future opportunities in research, civil services, and other competitive exams.

College is quite good and average.
Placements: Usually, students don't opt to be placed but still those who want to get placed. College sends its profile to companies, and then you can go and try your luck. In case the number of students demanding placements is high then college calls companies themselves to the campus. As for internships, throughout the whole course the department will organise different certified workshops and internships to help you out.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is quite rugged in old building but in new building its quite satisfactory. As per cleanliness, both of the academic blocks and the campus are clean. You will have no issue here as for infrastructure reasons. Wi-Fi is available but doesn't work strongly throughout whole campus. Library is one of the biggest of whole DU. We have 3-4 computer labs and 3-4 auditoriums for events and programs with AC.
Faculty: Faculty members are surprisingly quite well compared to other colleges atleast for my course. They are not cranky atleast. They are understandable and considerable in most cases, and will even help you throughout the year and course. They are quite humble and polite.
Other: Teachers and lab assistants are really helpful and sweet if I talk about my course. Crowd is diverse but mostly people come from Haryana. It's absolutely ragging free. Canteen food is average. Our college has ice cream corners and Bru Coffee Point as well followed by vendors selling juices, pav bhaji, and chole kulcha outside. Metro station is within walking distance. Campus is green and really clean. 67 percent attendance criterion is followed, which doesn't pressure students much. This college is one of the best colleges in terms of NCC, and someone who wants to go into defence. Many passouts from this same college hold a great position in army.

The infrastructure is really good, along with other curricular activities.
Placements: Around 80% of students get placed every year. Every year, there are many placement and internship programs held to provide more information to students.
Infrastructure: The canteen is good, and food is available at reasonable prices. There are a lot of options, including fruit juices, water, junk food, Indian food, as well as simple food. Fresh food is served all day. There is AC in the canteen with a very big and comfortable sitting area available. All students are friendly, ragging-free, and the campus is a no-smoking zone. The principal always takes care of all the problems.
Faculty: Almost all teachers are good, and they teach very well. The timetable is also very busy, with daily 9 to 5 classes. The course curriculum is relevant. Students also issue books regularly from the college library. The books are very helpful for preparing for exams.
Other: I select B.Sc. Physics Hons because the Department of Physics is so good. Regular visits to CSIR NPL and other valuable lab visits make us feel very interested in Physics. Daily lab practice and lab examinations are conducted.

At Shivaji College, if you fail the internal exam, nothing to worry about, teachers give you another chance to give internal exams, and even they provide questions that would be coming in internals which helps a lot in getting good marks for students.
