CUET General Aptitude Test Syllabus

CUET General Aptitude Test 2026 syllabus PDF is available for download. Students preparing for CUET exam must go through the detailed syllabus and previous year question papers to understand exam structure and CUET General Test important topics. CUET 2026 will be held from May 11 to May 31, 2026 in CBT mode. Since its introduction, the CUET GAT has emerged as most preferred CUET subject choice. 

CUET 2026 General Test syllabus includes key areas such as General Knowledge, Reasoning, Current Affairs, Mental Ability, Quantitative Reasoning and Numerical Ability. It is an optional subject and is required for admission to undergraduate courses offered by CUET accepting colleges. As per CUET General Test pattern, the exam is conducted for duration of 60 minutes. The question paper will include 50 MCQs.

Q:   What is General Aptitude Test in CUET?
A:

In CUET, General Aptitude Test is conducted to assess candidate's mental ability, logical reasoning, quantitative reasoning, general knowdlege, current affairs and so forth. It is an optional CUET subject that can be opted as per the university and course criteria. It is not compulsory for candidates to opt for CUET General Aptitude Test. Candidates can opt for CUET General Aptitude Test for courses which mentions the deleted CUET subjects and for the vocational courses. 

Q:   Can I skip General Aptitude Test in CUET UG exam?
A:

Yes, you can skip CUET General Aptitude Test if the university or course you are applying for doesn't requie it. CUET general test can be opted for vocational courses or for the courses and universities where the CUET subject combination of GAT is required. General Aptitude Test is a optional subject and not a mandatory test. You are advised to carefully review the university/course requirement before selecting finalising the CUET UG 2025 subject combination.

Q:   Which subjects have been removed in CUET UG?
A:

UGC has announced the deletion of 26 subjects from CUET UG 2025 onwards. CUET UG 20 foreign languages and six domain subjects have been removed. Check the list below to know the name of the subjects:

  • Foreign Languages (French, Spanish, German, Nepali, Persian, Italian, Arabic, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Konkani, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali, Sanskrit, Tibetan, Japanese, Russian, Chinese)
  • Domain Subjetcs (Entrepreneurship, Teaching Aptitude, Fashion Studies, Tourism, Legal Studies, Engineering Graphics)

NTA prescribes the CUET UG marking scheme. Check below to know the CUET UG marking scheme 2026:

  • Correct answer or the most appropriate answer: Five marks (+5)
  • Any incorrect option marked will be given minus one mark (-1).
  • Unanswered/Marked for Review will be given no mark (0).
  • If more than one option is found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.
  • If all options are found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question.
  • If none of the options is found correct or a question is found to be wrong or a question is dropped, then all candidates who have attempted the dropped question will be given five marks (+5) marks.

Q:   What are the latest changes in CUET UG exam?
A:

National Testing Agency has not introduced any specific changes for CUET UG 2026. However, in CUET 2025, NTA introduced major changes like

  • Reduction of CUET subjects from 63 to 37
  • GAT scores will be used for dropped subjects
  • Exma to be held CBT mode only
  • Compulsory 50 questions in each subject, no optional questions
  • Maximum five CUET subjects can be chosen

Ashoka University accepts CUET scores for UG admission. However, it is not mandatory. Aspirants have to pass Ashoka Aptitude Assessment and on-the-spot-essay round for admission to UG courses. Selected aspirants have to further pass other selection rounds for final admission.
