CUET General Aptitude Test Syllabus

CUET General Test syllabus 2026 covers topics like General Knowledge, Reasoning, Current Affairs, Mental Ability and Numerical Ability. NTA CUET UG 2026 General Test syllabus PDF is available now. CUET General Test syllabus includes important topics like national & international news, government schemes, algebra, seating arrangements and number system. It is an optional subject which can be opted for courses requiring the General Test as eligibility. 

CUET 2026 General Aptitude Test is the second highest subject choice among aspirants since the introduction of CUET exam. Candidates who have applied for the Section III must prepare well for the exam, knowing the CUET general test important topics. General Aptitude Test is conducted for 60 minutes. The CUET General Test question paper will consist of 50 questions of five marks each. The exam date for CUET general test will be updated soon. As per the official notification, CUET 2026 exam will be held tentatively in May/June 2026.

Q:   What is General Aptitude Test in CUET?
A:

In CUET, General Aptitude Test is conducted to assess candidate's mental ability, logical reasoning, quantitative reasoning, general knowdlege, current affairs and so forth. It is an optional CUET subject that can be opted as per the university and course criteria. It is not compulsory for candidates to opt for CUET General Aptitude Test. Candidates can opt for CUET General Aptitude Test for courses which mentions the deleted CUET subjects and for the vocational courses. 

Q:   Can I skip General Aptitude Test in CUET UG exam?
A:

Yes, you can skip CUET General Aptitude Test if the university or course you are applying for doesn't requie it. CUET general test can be opted for vocational courses or for the courses and universities where the CUET subject combination of GAT is required. General Aptitude Test is a optional subject and not a mandatory test. You are advised to carefully review the university/course requirement before selecting finalising the CUET UG 2025 subject combination.

Q:   Which subjects have been removed in CUET UG?
A:

UGC has announced the deletion of 26 subjects from CUET UG 2025 onwards. CUET UG 20 foreign languages and six domain subjects have been removed. Check the list below to know the name of the subjects:

  • Foreign Languages (French, Spanish, German, Nepali, Persian, Italian, Arabic, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Konkani, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali, Sanskrit, Tibetan, Japanese, Russian, Chinese)
  • Domain Subjetcs (Entrepreneurship, Teaching Aptitude, Fashion Studies, Tourism, Legal Studies, Engineering Graphics)

Q:   Is there a negative marking in CUET?
A:

Yes. There is a negative marking in the CUET exam. For each wrong answer, one mark is deducted. Negative marking will not be applicable in case of unattempted questions. The marking scheme as per NTA is given below.

i. Correct answer or the most appropriate answer: Five marks (+5)
ii. Any incorrect option marked will be given minus one mark (-1).
iii. Unanswered/Marked for Review will be given no mark (0).
iv. If more than one option is found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.
v. If all options are found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question.

vi. If none of the options is found correct or a question is found to be wrong or a question is dropped, then all candidates who have attempted the dropped question will be given five marks (+5) marks.

A:

With your score, it’s quite difficult to get a seat even in 2nd or 3rd round in most central or good universities. But it’s not impossible, you may still get a seat in less competitive colleges or courses where seats are vacant. Keep checking the cutoff lists and spot rounds.
