The ambiance is great in geography department and there are good faculty. But, placements are poor.

Placements: The college doesn't offer any placements for the students of the geography department. Till 2016, the students of the department did not get placed owing to the absence of placement drives. However, the college needs to organise placement drives for the students of the geography department to boost their confidence. They need to broaden the horizon of the students by offering an ample opportunities.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is up to the mark, and there is a canteen, labs and library. All the classrooms are well-equipped with air conditioners and a projector. GIS lab has well-functioning laptops, but sometimes, the external mouses connected to laptops fail to function properly. So they need to change them regularly.

Faculty: All the faculty members of our college are highly qualified and approachable. They truly uphold the integrity of the college and the department. Under their guidance, the students of the geography department are flourishing in their field of interest.

Other: The surroundings of the campus are good except for the occasional honking of the passing cars. Every year, the college organises an annual fest named Srijan with great pomp and show. The guest appearances vary with the sponsorships. The sports events are remarkable, and many students from our college participate in these events.

Had a great college life studying in SSC. Not much satisfied with the placements but great faculty.

Placements: There is a working placement cell which recruit students from all courses. But preferably from B.Com or BBA courses and Masters courses. Yet students from all the courses can apply and have a fair share of chance to be selected. However the maximum package is around 15,000 per annum. Though most are less than that. The famous companies which came for campusing in 2018 are IDBI bank, GST Dost, Omifin solutions and other smaller companies.

Infrastructure: The is probably one of the best college in town in terms of infrastructure. All the rooms are equipped with minimum of 2 ACs with ample number of fans and lights. The desks are broad and comfortable. The cleaners are mopping the college almost all the time. The bathrooms are equipped with Sanitary napkin vending machines and super clean. There is a common room with gym. A huge library with a huge stack of genres.

Faculty: This college has a premium faculty. There is no such incidences when classes are randomly cancelled by teachers. Even general classes are held regularly. The college is under University of Calcutta and follows the CU syllabi. There are smart computers in almost all the classrooms. The JMC lab is equipped with Mac Books. The teachers are very friendly. However there are not much strict rules regarding attendance.

Other: The college fest Srijan is a topnotch for the Yatanites where you encounter with celebrity guests like Ayushman Khurana, Darshan Rawal, Arjun Kanungo, etc. There is a college fete Shri organised and conducted by the students. The campus life is not however great as it is attached with school. There are scholarships for meritorious students. A lot of activities go on all the year round for which you just need to keep an eye on the 2nd floor corridor.
