My experiences at St Xavier's College, Ranchi.

Placements: Geology students are recruited only after the master's degree, so I didn't get any placement. But companies like Wipro come and anyone from the 3rd-year science or commerce stream can sit in their placement and if Wipro people are interested, they will take you.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good. The campus consists of 8 huge, 4-storeyed buildings. It has an air-conditioned library, 4 canteens, a playground, everything needed for making it a perfect atmosphere for studying. Hence, the infrastructure is good. We have college Wi-Fi, a heavily equipped gym, well-equipped labs, a main hall for social gatherings, a quadrangle for skipping class hours, very clean washrooms and 3 hostels but for boys only. I have heard that a girls' hostel is to be constructed shortly. The quality of food is good with reasonable prices. I didn't face any issue regarding the infrastructure.

Faculty: The faculty team is really helpful. The faculty members under whom I studied were geology (as this was my honours subject)+ physics and maths (which were my subsidiary subjects) -qualified, so these faculty members were really good. Many of them are from IITs. The geology faculty team is really great. In 3 years, you will have 3 field tours, 2 within the state and one outside the state. Our batch went to Kullu Manali.

Other: My overall experience here was really great. I wish Xavier's also had an M.Sc program so that I could have studied here for two more years. It is the best degree college in Jharkhand and it is in the centre of the city. You will find everything near this college like markets, a bookstore, boys' hostels, girls' hostels, BHK flats, etc.

It is the best college with very good environment.

Placements: Around 90% of students got placed in our college. The highest salary package offered was 1 LPA to 2 LPA and the lowest salary was Rs.60,000 - Rs.70,000 per annum. Many companies visited our college to recruit students.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, and a library were good in our college. Hostel rooms were very good and clean. Medical facilities were very good. Many kinds of sports were available but students like to play basketball.

Faculty: Teachers in our college were the best, highly educated, helpful, and interactive. Teaching quality was very good. Exams were not difficult. I studied hard to score above 85%. The pass percentage was 39%.

Other: I chose this course because of my interest in geography. The infrastructure of our college should be improved. Events and fests were organised in our college.
