Q:   Which entrance exam scores does NIE Mysore accept for admission to M.Tech?
A:

For admission to M.Tech programs at NIE Mysore, the main entrance exam score considered is the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). However, depending on the situation, other exams might also play a role:

Primary Criteria:

  • GATE: Scoring well in GATE is crucial for securing admission to M.Tech at NIE Mysore. The minimum required score varies based on the specific programme and competition level. Aim for a score above the program's cutoff,  which is usually available after the GATE exam results are declared.

Additional Considerations:

  • KCET and COMEDK UGET: For Karnataka domicile candidates,  NIE Mysore might consider KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) scores as a secondary factor for some programs,  particularly non-core ones. For all Indian candidates,  COMEDK UGET (Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental colleges Karnataka Undergraduate Entrance Test) scores might be considered similarly.
  • Other Exams: In rare cases,  some specific programs might consider scores from other national or state-level entrance exams in addition to or in place of GATE. This information would be clearly mentioned in the programme brochure.

Remember:

  • Check the specific programme brochure on the NIE Mysore website to understand the exact entrance exam requirements and any secondary considerations for your desired program.
  • Focus on performing well in the primary admission exam (GATE) for best chances.
  • Stay updated with the latest admission information and deadlines on the NIE Mysore website or through official announcements.

NIE Mysore is the best place to study. It is really worth our time and effort.
Placements: There are 180 students in our batch, and out of that, 80% of students get placed which means 144 students got placed. The highest package offered is 12 LPA, and the lowest package is 3 LPA. The average package is 5 LPA. Benz, Bosch, and Siemens Technology are the top recruiting companies for our course. 70% of students got internships in various companies like Toyota, TVS, and Mypol. Top roles offered are HVAC engineer and plant manager.
Infrastructure: The mechanical department has the best lab facilities not only in our college but in the entire state. Students who are willing to do research work in the mechanical field should opt for NIE Mysore without hesitation. The quality of the food served in the NIE boys' hostel is top-notch. If students are from North India or South India, they can easily adjust to our hostel food. The food is hygienically prepared and very delicious. The ground available to play sports is not that much big. It has one basketball court, one handball court, and some space for playing cricket.
Faculty: Our teachers are highly qualified. Most of them are from IIT. They have in-depth knowledge of their subject. We can approach them any time of the day. They are friendly and easily approachable. The course curriculum is up to date. What are the things practiced in the industry those things are only taught here.
Other: I am always interested in machines and how machines work, so I chose a mechanical engineering course. The best thing about our course is we will learn everything about machines, manufacturing processes, design and quality control.

It provides good placements every year. It is worth joining this college.
Placements: 85% of students get placed in the electrical stream, and the placement rate is high. The highest package received is 27 LPA. The lowest package is 4 LPA. The average ranges from 7-8 LPA. Top recruiting companies for our course are Samsung, Texas Instruments, DTICI, TVS, etc. It offers roles based on their knowledge and skills.
Infrastructure: Labs are well-equipped. Free Wi-Fi is available and classrooms are well-furnished. It also has smart boards, and the library fulfills our needs. Food in the canteen is affordable and the taste is also good. Medical facilities are available.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified, supportive, and responsive. The teaching quality is good. The course curriculum is good and ensures that everybody is eligible for placements. Semester exams are tough. Paper correction is strict. The pass percentage is 85%. The college is autonomous so it satisfies the demands of companies or industries. The teaching atmosphere is good.
Other: I chose this course because 90% of students choose software. I wanted to be different from others as semiconductor industries upgrading job opportunities are more. It is the toughest branch as everybody knows. In odd semesters, branch fests will take place which include sports, ethnic day, DJ night, etc. In every semester, the college fest, i.e., TECHNIEKS is held for 4-5 days. The campus is good and refreshing. Social connections are more.

Reviewing NIE in just a glance.
Placements: Almost 90 out of 125 students are placed by the end of the final year. The highest package is 29 LPA, and the lowest is 3 LPA. Around 85% of students get internships by the start of the 4th year. The various companies that come for the internship drive are Infosys, Samsung, Nvidia, Texas Instruments, Bosch, and Havells. The role of a test engineer is a good for me to start earning.
Infrastructure: Libraries are very huge, containing all books we need to understand our course thoroughly. Wi-Fi facility in classrooms is good enough, and I have no complaints about it. The canteen at our college is very lively and is a great place to hang out with friends or study for exams.
Faculty: The teaching quality at NIE is really good, as teachers are highly experienced, and the course is highly recommended and regularly revised to meet current industry requirements. Teachers are very helpful and go out of their way whenever needed. They provide informative notes that are good enough to score well in exams.
Other: I chose ECE because of the growing semiconductor demand in India. The course includes power electronics from the first year itself. The college hosts several fests and ensures maximum participation from students.

What you need to know before joining the college.
Placements: Around 90 percent of students in our college are placed every year, with an avg package of 8 LPA. The highest is 50 LPA. Infosys, Land are the top recruitment companies in our college. All the 3rd and 4th-year students got internships for software testing and developing in companies.
Infrastructure: We have good infrastructure in our college, with big libraries and huge classrooms, Wi-Fi. We have 2 campuses, one is North and the other is South. In the North campus, we have only IT branches, and the hostel facility is good but has less accommodation. But in the South, we get good accommodation.
Faculty: Yes, teachers here are helping in our course curriculum, but the level of exam paper is moderate, so we can't score well, but it makes students industry-ready. When it comes to sem exams, we often get tough papers. Teachers here are well-qualified and are good at teaching.
Other: I choose this course because of my passion to become an engineer, and the best thing about this course is it shapes my life and future in a good way. In this college, we get fewer fests.
