The duration for each specialisation is one-year. TMI has a collaboration with the University of Strathclyde, located in Glasgow UK. A part of this course will be taught at TMI and the remaining at the University of Strathclyde. As per the Tolani Maritime Institute admission guidelines, candidates requires a bachelor's degree with 60% percentile. Further, candidates must have the BTech in Marine Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Nautical Technology/ Naval Architecture/ Mechanical Engineering/ Production Engineering.

Tolani Maritime Institute offers admission on the basis of entrance. Candidates must secure valid scores in 2 accepted entrance exams, IMU CET and TMISAT. The shortlisted candidates will further be evaluated through personal interview and medical examination. The cutoff marks for Tolani Maritime Institute vary depending on the course and the year of admission. For the B.Tech. Marine Engineering degree program, candidates must have at least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) and at least 50% marks in English either in Class X or Class XII. Qualifying in IMUCET as well as TMISAT is mandatory for admission. The minimum cutoff for Tolani Maritime Institute TMISAT cutoff 2023 for BTech is to have 27 out of the 60 marks. For admission to a three-year BSc course in Nautical Science, candidates are required to attain 60% aggregate in Class 12 in the Science stream and apply for the course. After qualifying all the eligible tests you can have the admission into the TMI.
