How to Get Admission in Karnataka Colleges: Accepting Exams & Eligibility

Engineering Admissions 2026 in Karnataka Colleges

• You must pass Class 12 in PCM subjects, plus one optional subjects with an aggregate of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC Karnataka candidates).
• The primary state exams are KCET and COMEDK UGET. Some of the top private colleges also accept JEE Main exam.

MBA Admissions 2026 in Karnataka Colleges 

• You must hold a recognized Bachelor’s degree with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks for general category (45% for SC/ST/Category). 
• Karnataka PGCET is the mandatory exam for government quota seats. Private colleges accept national exams like CAT, KMAT, MAT, CMAT, and SNAP.

Medical Admissions 2026 in Karnataka Colleges

• You must pass Class 12 in PCB, and English individually with at least 50% aggregate marks for general category (40% for reserved categories) and must be at least 17 years old by December 31, 2026.
• NEET UG is the sole entrance exam for all MBBS, BDS, and AYUSH courses in Karnataka.

Law Admissions 2026 in Karnataka Colleges (CLAT and State CET

• For 5-year LLB, you need a Class 12 pass certificate. For 3-year LLB, you need a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST) to apply for both CLAT and KSLU-affiliated colleges.
• CLAT is used exclusively for admission to National Law School (NLSIU), Bengaluru. For most other law colleges, admission is on Class 12 marks, and there is no State Law CET.

Design Admissions 2026 in Karnataka Colleges (NIFT)

• You must have passed the Class 12 exam from any recognized board. For the B.F.Tech course specifically, you need Physics, Chemistry, and Math in Class 12.
• You must be less than 24 years of age as of August 1, 2026 (5-year relaxation applies for SC/ST/PwD candidates).
• Admission to the NIFT Bengaluru campus is strictly through the NIFT Entrance Exam conducted by NTA.
