Definition of AI

AI (Artificial Intelligence) is a broad field that aims to create machines capable of mimicking human intelligence. It is the science of making machines smart, and giving them the ability to mimic human-like intelligence to perform tasks. It has a wider range from all sectors be it education, defence, technology, health care, automobiles, you just name it and it will fit the bill. Definition of ML

On the other hand Machine Learning (ML) is a specific set of techniques within AI that focuses on building systems that can learn and improve from experience (data). The scope of ML is again vast and it uses AI-algorithms trained data to make predictions or decisions.

Some of the examples of ML are spam filters in mails, recommendation engines in search bars, music, video playlist, language translation apps etc. It studies patterns and learns from data to perform function.

What is the relationship between AI/ML?

In layman language, let's understand it this way. AI is the umbrella, ML is the tool. So Amazon Alexa is the AI, but the tech behind it is ML. So if you speak to Alexa, you are actually speaking to an AI. If you ask it to play a song, it will respond like an AI, but the tech behind the response, the function, and the song recommendation will be ML. And, this ML learns from your response and your queries and trains itself, so that the next time you ask Alexa AI to play a song, the ML behind it will play similar songs of that genre on loop.

What are the AI/ML Courses?

Now, as you have learned about the definition and its functions, let's learn about the courses that equip you with AI/ML. Today there are a lot of AI/ML courses that teach how to build intelligent systems, and how to make machines learn from data. What is data analysis, programming, and algorithms. What is supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning. These courses can be undergraduate (B.Tech) or postgraduate (PG), and also available as certificates or bootcamps. It provides skills to develop solutions for real-world problems in fields like healthcare, finance, and robotics.

What is taught in AI/ML Courses?

When students enroll for an AI/ML course they will be taught the following -

  • Introduction to artificial intelligence and machine learning principles
  • Training models using supervised, unsupervised learning, and reinforcement learning
  • Programming skills (often with Python) and use of libraries like NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, and industry-standard frameworks such as TensorFlow and Scikit-learn
  • Deep learning
  • Computer vision
  • Natural language processing (NLP), and generative AI
  • Building, training, and implementing AI/ML models

What types of courses are available in AI/ML?

  • Undergraduate courses which are your regular 4 year programs like B.Tech in AI and ML
  • Postgraduate degrees which are your 2 year programs such as M.Tech
  • Online certificates

What are the jobs after completing an AI/ML course?

After completing the course with flying marks, students can get placed as -

Top government colleges for AI in India

Along with the above, there are also courses offered by -

Top colleges for Artificial Intelligence in India private

Bottomline

Before picking the AI/ML college for your education, it is recommended to check the college based on the following parameters -

  • Relevance of the programs
  • Accreditation
  • Faculty and curriculum
  • Reputation of the college
  • Fees
  • Scholarships
  • Return of investment
  • Placement opportunities
  • Location
  • Hostel facilities
  • Extra curricular activities
  • Events such as hackathon or AI-Summits etc.
