No, candidates can not take direct admission at IIST. The institute offers only entrance-based admission into different UG and PG courses. The college accepts score of entrance exam such as JEE Main, JEE Advance for BTech. The college accepts score of GATE for MSc or M.Tech admissions.

Candidates applying for BTech at IIST should have passed Class 12 in Physics, Chemistry and Maths with at least 75% aggregate score (general/OBC) and 65% for reserved category. They have to qualify JEE Main and JEE Advance and participate in counselling for seat allocation.
