These are first-hand student accounts on how our young population is managing to keep their exam prep or college course work going from the confines of their homes. In case you want to share your lockdown study experience, write to us at publish@shiksha.com.
The major difference in the experience of attending an online class and a brick and mortar class is that in online classes, you can repeat lectures any no. of times as one wants, however, in case of offline class, such thing is not possible. And, another advantage of an online class is that you can ask doubts related to any topic privately. So, if any student is introvert, they can clarify their doubts with the teacher separately as there is no fear of asking the doubts in front of the
One advantage of an offline class is that the students do not have to worry about the internet connection and also, they do not have to wait for any link to join the class.
If given a choice, I would prefer offline classes over online classes because in offline classes you have friends to talk and discuss the topic as well as there is direct interaction with the teacher to clarify any doubt. The disadvantage of offline classes is meeting the attendance criteria of 90% attendance due to which you have to go to the college whether you want or
Another advantage of online classes is that you can join the class from home without worrying much about attendance as one can join the class from anywhere.
The disadvantage of online classes is that you can face many issues like internet speed, someone leaves the mic on and causing a disturbance during the lecture, etc.
- I use my extra time by reading various articles like how to geothermal cooling works, advancement in rooftop cooling, etc.
- The university exams have been postponed. But, still, our college is going to take the pre-university exam from May 14 and the online classes would continue till May 7 as scheduled by the college.
- In case someone is planning to appear for any competitive exam. They can utilise this time by studying the notes provided by their college and coaching institute and follow the instructions given by the teachers. My parents are more involved in my college life now since they can watch me interact with my friends and teachers online for discussing any topic. They often try to discuss my progress in the class with the teachers and also, ask them about the next step that the college/university is going to take for the students and when the college would re-open now.
