Mystory@Altamash Sameer: How I chose my course and college
After class 10th I had two options to consider, either Medical or Engineering. I chose Engineering because it gets completed in less time, and I wanted to start earning as soon as possible. I had a fine experience in my class 11th & 12th. My results were okay, but still I had to drop one year. For my graduation, I went to Kota and had a great time there. Kota is a place full of opportunities, both for studying and enjoying, and I opted for the second option. By the end of the year my condition was not so good. Exams came and went away but I couldn’t make a great attempt at them. But I consider myself to be very lucky that even after this I managed to get a seat in CS branch in PES University. If I have to answer why I choose PES University, then the only answer is because that’s the best I was getting. And of course somewhere in my heart I wanted CS so after the counselling sessions that I attended, PES was one of the few colleges where I was getting CS, so I came here happily.
How I cracked college admission
Taking about entrance exams I had to go through that phase twice as I dropped for year so I have quite an experience of that phase. After class 12 boards exams I had only 3 days to prepare for JEE Mains so my JEE preparation mainly depending on what I had prepared for Boards. I scored 141 in JEE Mains and qualified for JEE Advance. I also gave entrance exams of other colleges like VIT University (in which I didn’t do well), SRM, KIT, Manipal University, Jamia (the exams of which went fine).
Then came JEE Advance which didn’t go well. I had BITSAT 2 days after Advance which again did not go as I had expected. In the end, I was left to choose from KIT, SRM, and Manipal University, Jaipur so I decided to drop one year and prepare again, and I went to Kota. I took admission in VIBRANT. The teachers were really nice. I enjoyed that year but unfortunately I was once again in the same situation at the end of year and faced the same results. The good thing that happened to me was PESSAT. I got a decent rank and I am currently pursuing BTech in CS from PES University.
What I gained from my college experience
Most of the time I play in my college. Living in a hostel provides a great bunch of boys as friends. Other than playing I study for a couple of hours. On weekends we play together and before exams we study together. It’s a totally different experience away from home and waiting for semester to end and enjoying your stay in hostel. My university conducts French classes and I enjoy those French classes. I am a part our college’s creative club. I take part in various weekly events conducted in our college. I would I like improve the extracurricular and sport activities of our college. My college experience has made me a more independent, confident and mentally strong person. Hope I will spend four quality years here.
