"My story is no different from other students, but it has many experiences which can help the newcomers to find light in the dark", says Himanshi Agarwal - JKLU Jaipur

JK Lakshmipat University

My story is no different from other students, but yes, it has many experiences which can help the newcomers to find light in the dark for a better future ahead.

I have always been a brilliant student; I secured 9.6 CGPA in 10th and 92% in 12th Board exams. Now it was the turn of the life-changing exam, IIT-JEE, for which I started preparing along with my 12th curriculum. I attempted the paper, after which I was sure enough that I was not going to clear the first paper of JEE Main, but that the second would be cleared with good marks. The result was the exact same as I mentioned earlier. I tried for BITSAT and NATA, but my hard work along with my luck was not sufficient for letting me clear the exams. Shattered dreams of my family were turning out to be a nightmare as all my friends were getting admissions in some college or the other and I was under pressure at that time.

I started visiting colleges and it was clear in my mind that I wanted admission in a private college as my marks were not good enough to get admission in a good government college, and the lower-end government colleges were not turning out to be my cup of tea.

I went to JK Lakshmipat University (JKLU) and was very impressed by the ambience and infrastructure of the university. I joined the college and attended it for 2 weeks. At the same time, since my second paper of Architecture went very well in JEE, I got an AIR below 500 and got admission in MNIT, Jaipur. I joined MNIT and started studying Architecture as I was always an art freak. But after going there for 2 days, I felt that this is not the thing I always wanted to do. So, my parents’ hard earned expense of 50k got wasted, and after leaving MNIT, I continued my graduation at JKLU.

JKLU was a great option for me to start with as it was providing me with all the basic facilities a student wished for, in a better way than other colleges. It included a good lot of faculty members who were always available for the students, and ready to help whenever required. An easily accessible learning resource centre was there with thousands of books. The classrooms were air-conditioned and well-furnished with comfortable chairs, tables and smart-classrooms. The hostel rooms, outdoor and indoor sports, a gym area and canteens were additional facilities.

I pursued my BTech in Electronics & Communication Engineering from JKLU and now, I have successfully graduated, but yes, I am struggling for a job of my interest since the placements are a little low from the college for ECE, but are good enough for other engineering and management branches.

Some of the major subjects covered in ECE are Analog and Digital Communication, Analog and Digital Electronics, Digital Electronics, Radar & Satellite Communication, Optical Fibre Communication, Wireless Communication, Microprocessors & Microcontrollers, Computer Networks, C & OOP Programming, Digital Signal Processing, AutoCAD, Mechanical workshops and many other courses with different credits. The tenure of 8 semesters also consists of 2 full-time internships or training sessions, one after the 4th Semester (1.5-2 months), while the second is the full 8th semester internship of 6 months. The results are calculated on a grade scale of 10.

The overall exposure at JKLU in all fields is very nice as from time to time, competitions, sports, cultural fests and other student activities are conducted yearly which promote the involvement of students.
