Mystory@Nikitha Fernandes

I was told about IEM course by a neighbor and when I looked into it and did the necessary research, I found that it was an interesting course. Industrial engineering is about maintaining a certain standard of quality in a given company or industry. It focuses upon the betterment of a firm.  As I found this to be of importance, I chose this course. My next step was to find the colleges offering this course, prioritise the list and apply to those colleges.

How I cracked college admission

There was only one admission test for Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering. The college was affiliated to VTU affiliated, but now is an autonomous college and hence has a separate test for admission. I prepared for the common entrance test and gave the same. I attended coaching classes for a year, starting from the summer of 2012 and was able to crack the common entrance test with a rank sufficient for making it to the cut off in Dayananda Sagar College.

Reference papers and books extensively help in cracking entrance exams, scoring a higher rank and getting into a better college

My first priority for seating was BMS College but I couldn't make it to the cutoff and hence got a seat in my current college. RVCE is one of the best colleges for IEM, but has a cutoff range higher than other colleges. I attended CET coaching classes in SAFE tuitions and it helped me with all the necessary material required for cracking the test. Reference papers and books extensively help in cracking the exam, scoring a higher rank and getting into a better college.

What I gained from my college experience

Dayananda Sagar College is a great college for cultural events as well as sports. Many events take place in our auditorium. I spend my time in college organising events that take place in the even semester. My college schedule is pretty much jam-packed. Classes begin at 9 am and continue till 5 pm. College has changed me in so many ways. It has made me more assertive, helped me gain confidence, and had made me very social. The college has a great canteen and a brilliant campus life with events and conferences happening almost every alternative day. We also have team building exercises in college that will eventually helps us become better professionals.
