Strong base in class 10-12 will definitely help you in college: Perin Shah
I was a bright student till10th but I didn’t perform up to the mark in 12th standard. Hence I had to make a decision about which college I needed to target. I was clear about the field I wanted to go in - Computer Science and Engineering. I was always keen on learning about computers and their performance. So, the next question was “Which college?” I applied for ACPC and figured out a few local colleges like MSU, Babaria, ITM, and Navrachna University. I was getting admission in SRM in CS but I didn’t want to go that far. Also, I wasn’t getting the field that I wanted to go for in MSU. So, I had 3 other options for top colleges in Vadodara. I figured out the working style of colleges and found out Navrachna University as a favoured one. I visited all the colleges I was interested in. The crowd and campus of Navrachna was soothing. Also, Navrachna University had started Computer Science and Engineering the same year. So, as Navrachna Education Society excels in all fields and it was its first year for CSE course, I found it to be attractive. Finally, I made up my mind to take admission in Navrachna University.
The next question you all would have is regarding the cut-off. Well, in the first round, the cut-off was nearly 15000 for ACPC, followed by a maximum of 18000 cut-off for the second round. I didn’t have satisfactory marks in CBSE board but had good marks in JEE to get into this college. I gave many entrance tests like VITEEE, SRMJEEE, JEE, etc. For admission in Navrachna, you can proceed via 2 ways-
1) Through ACPC
2) Through All India Rank (For which you need to collect the form from Navrachna University and fill it up).
I had done my coaching for JEE from Yukti (Yukti Learning Centre) where I became focused and decided to crack the JEE Main exam. From that, I got to know that whether you want to prepare for JEE or BITSAT or any other entrance examination, you need to clear you basic fundamentals. And for JEE Main and Advanced, there’s a key rule: ‘You cannot give JEE Main on the basis of your preparation of JEE Advanced or vice-versa.’ For getting admission in NUV, 80-85% marks in CBSE board and 80-90 marks in JEE could fetch you a seat in this college. Joining clubs in the college like music club/dance club or basketball team/volleyball team/cricket team and joining hands for college events like Innuvate would get you the most out of the college.
I have successfully completed 2 years (4 semesters) in this college and so far, the college life is awesome. Enjoying the events held by the college is a crucial part. Here, the seniors are very friendly with the juniors. You won’t even feel that the person talking to you is one or two years senior to you. Zero ragging policy is implemented strongly. As a result, events, a tech fest and a cultural fest are all organized by the students for different years and different fields. As this is our first batch of computer science, it is yet halfway to placements; hoping for good placements in the computer field. As seen in different fields, companies like Paytm, Jio, and MG Motors recruit students who passed in their interviews. So, our placements would be a lesson for our juniors, who would get to know the Dos and Don’ts in the interview, in which interview to sit, which interview or company would help them to get their dream job, etc. I feel I chose the right career. Many students don’t choose the appropriate career due to either family pressure or the competitive world, which forces them to take up a stream that they don’t want. In my case, as I told you, I was always keen on computers and their working, and I took the stream that suits me well. As from the age of 10, I was keen about computers, accessories, gadgets and their working, and I knew that this field would help me to explore more. Therefore, the career that I chose was the right one. Nevertheless, I won’t deny the mistakes that I did. Taking 12th standard as granted proved to be nearly fatal. Right now, I am in a good college but a little effort in 12th could have fetched me a seat in one of my dream colleges. So, I won’t misguide anyone saying that you need to only study 12th properly and you will pass your college with flying colours. Instead, having your good base of 10th, 11th and 12th would definitely help in the 1st and 2nd year of your college. You need to study 12th + 4 years properly to get into a good MNC. Also remember, there are no shortcuts. Hard and smart work is the key to success. Since I have not completed my college, I cannot comment on my college education helping me in career but one thing is sure- any college you join, until you don’t try to do something different, it won’t help you. And it’s the 4-year span where you have to gain a proper knowledge of some field. Don’t miss out the internship part. Internships are very important. Though internships provide you with a small stipend and not a hefty package, they help you to develop. According to me, you should work as an intern in both types of companies: well-established ones and start-ups. The reason behind it is that you would learn from a well-established organisation but also, you will learn from the mistakes of start-ups. For career selection, try to figure out on your own which field you are interested in, and you can make a difference if you work on your skills. It may be music, dance, vocal, arts, commerce, science or any other field. Have counselling sessions with counsellors to get yourself a proper knowledge about the field that you are interested in. Best of luck for your future! You can also check out my college review of Navrachna University on Shiksha.com.
