Students’ Speak: Tips to crack your job placement exams and interviews
By: Shubham Singla
Challenges that students generally face during their placements are with their coding skills. If you are good at coding then you can easily crack interview exams for various companies.
Once you get admission to the college of your choice, you think all is sorted and that might be partially true but not completely. You have to prepare for your placements if you want to grab a good package. So, you have to prepare it from the very start of your third year as at the end of the third year, companies would start coming for placement. If you are from the CSE/IT branch then you don’t have to worry as in any college the companies that visit campus mainly search for students with technical background.
But don’t worry if you are from a good college then core companies too visit the campus and hire people accordingly. All students are allowed to sit in the placements, the only condition is that they must follow all guidelines issued by that company and doesn’t have any back in any of the previous examinations. In my college, Maharaja Agrasen Institute Of Technology, all types of companies visited from technical to the non-technical background. Every branch has 180 students except the CSE branch which has 240 students. All students are allowed to give aptitude tests for the company and if he/she is able to crack that test then he/she will be further evaluated for the next level exam.
In my college, for the past two years, almost 90% of students got placed whether it’s from off-campus or from on-campus. Currently, this year two students got placed in Microsoft with a CTC of 43 lakh and 17 students got placed in Amazon with a package of 25 lakh. Although, the two students who got placed in Microsoft are off-campus and others who got selected in Amazon are selected from the pool drive. The average package that students have got in my college is around 4-5 lakh.
Many top companies visited our campus like ZS, ION, Infosys and many more. All companies have different criteria for hiring candidates. Some took aptitude tests to shortlist candidates and then took personal interviews like Infosys and some companies took GD and PI round too. The lowest package offered is around of 2.98 lakh. Companies visited to ask for several domains as some asked for a technical assistant, some want to hire students from EEE, ECE branch. EEE, ECE and MAE branches don’t have very good placements when compared to CSE/IT branches, the only reason is only a few core companies visited the campus for recruitment.
In personal interviews, they will ask you a few coding questions and some general questions like “Why should we hire you” and many more common questions. Challenges that students generally face during their placements are with their coding skills. If you are good at coding then you can easily crack interview exams for various companies.

With 82.57 percentile and Delhi home quota, CSE in MAIT/MSIT is almost impossible. For general quota CSE, MAIT closing rank is around 47–48k and MSIT home state around 109k. Spot round chances are super slim at this rank.
