Overview

NUCAT 2026: Nitte University will announce the NUCAT rank 2026 on June 7.  The ranks will be announced for all candidates who appeared in Phase 1, 2 and 3 exams. The answer key of all three phases of NUCAT 2026 has already been released as per the schedule. The counselling for admission to Nitte University will start on June 11, 2026.

NITTE University conducts NUCAT for admission to BTech and other courses. It is recommended that the candidates appearing for NUCAT take the mock test before the exam to familiarise themselves with the exam pattern and question types. 

Candidates can take a maximum of 3 tests, and the best attempt will be considered for ranking. The NUCAT registration fee has to be paid during the online registration process for each test.  Read more to know about NUCAT Admission 2026 on this page.

What is NUCAT?

Admission to BTech programmes at NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte, will be through Nitte University Common Admission Test (NUCAT) 2026. NUCAT is designed to understand knowledge and skills of the students in chosen field of study. NUCAT exam pattern includes subjects such as physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology for engineering programmes, and topics such as English, reasoning, and general knowledge for non-technical courses. NUCAT Scores are used by the university to determine eligibility of the students for admission to chosen programme. It may also be used to assign scholarships and financial aid.

Eligibility Criteria for NUCAT 2026

Candidates must fulfil NUCAT eligibility criteria to apply for course.  Candidates must be 17 years old to apply for NUCAT. Candidates must have qualified Class 12. The aggregate score must be 45% in Maths and Physics for general category students. For reserved category students, the aggregate score must be 40%. The candidate must have studied Maths and Physics as mandatory subjects. The other subjects are Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Electronics, or Information Technology. The candidates must check all these eligibility criteria to apply for NUCAT 2026.

Class - Candidates must have passed or be attempting Class 12 or equivalent examination in India.

Subjects - Candidates must have studied Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects. One subject from Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Electronics, or Information Technology. The candidates must have English as one languages of study in Class 12.

Percentage - The candidate must score 45% marks (40% for reserved category) aggregate in Mathematics, Physics, and any one optional subjects mentioned above, in Class 12.

Age -The applicant must be at least 17 years old as of December 31 of the admissions year.

NRI Category - NRI category is Foreign Nationals or Persons of Indian Origin (Candidates who have completed Class 12 outside of India or Candidates sponsored by parents or blood relatives who have NRI status or Overseas Citizens of India). The admission for NRI category is based on inter-se merit, considering marks got in PCM courses in Class 12.

Test Pattern of NUCAT 2026

NUCAT 2026 examination will be conducted in online mode. NUCAT 2026 exam will have MCQs from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. From each subject, 40 questions will come in exam. There will be total of 120 questions. For each correct answer, 1 mark will be given. There will not be any negative marks for wrong answers.

Counselling Details of NUCAT 2026

The NUCAT Counselling process 2026 will be conducted from June 11 to 15, 2026. The NUCAT University 2026 counselling process will be carried out for the candidates who get shortlisted. The counselling session will be conducted online. All applicants whose names appear on the merit list should attend the NUCAT 2026 counselling session for admission. Candidates are expected to present both the original and photocopies of the necessary documentation for verification. The counselling letters for the candidates whose seats are allotted during the counselling process will be available for download. No admission will be permitted in the absence of counselling letters.
