Candidates who are interested in enrolling for the BSc and MSc in mathematics and statistics degrees can visit the official website and make their registrations. The last date for filling out the ISI Admission Test Registration form 2025 was March 31, 2026.

For better preparation, candidates must know the ISI Admission Test pattern to know about the types of questions asked. There will be two sections in the examination. Section A will consist of 30 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), and Section B is the subjective type where 9 questions of domain-specific will be asked by the exam officials. Candidates will be able to prepare for the examination from the ISI Admission Test syllabus 2025 mentioned in the information brochure of the exam.

The ISI Admission Test 2026 will be conducted on May 11, 2026, tentatively at various exam centres across the nation. The exam will be conducted to test the candidate's domain-specific knowledge, and meritorious students will be admitted to the degree programmes offered at various participating institutes of the ISI Admission Test 2026.

Q:   When will ISI Admission Test 2026 application process start?
A: 

The exam conducting body announced the ISI Admission Test 2026 application form dates. Candidates can fill out the ISI Admission test application form from February 28, 2026 till March 26, 2026 tentatively by visiting the official website.

Candidates who have completed their Class 12 and UG courses will be able to apply for the BSc and MSc degree programmes offered by the participating universities of ISI Admission Test 2026. 

Q:   What are the various channels for admissions to Indian Statistical Institutes?

What is ISI Admission Test?

The Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) conducts the Indian Statistical Institute Admission Test abbreviated as ISI Admission Test in order to offer students admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses which are offered at the ISI. Admission to the academic programmes offered at the ISI Kolkata is strictly based on the merits obtained by the candidates which are evaluated on their performance in ISI admission tests and interviews. The candidate's past academic records may also be taken into account for the purpose of performance evaluation. In 2024 the ISI admission test is held at 38 Centres across the country. The ISI admission test is a national-level entrance exam and the mode of the exam is offline i.e. pen and paper test.

When seeking admission at ISI, the very first step was to apply online for registration and appear for the entrance examination. Aspirants need to fill out the application form online on the official website. The ISI Admission Test application form has to be filled out online for the entrance exam for PG course admissions they need to register on the admissions portal. Candidates will also have to upload their photograph, signature and category certificate in the specific resolutions. The application fees needed to be paid in Credit/Debit Card and Net Banking modes.

All applicants interested in admission to any of the academic programmes listed earlier must apply online through the official website, https://admission.isical.ac.in and Overseas applicants must also apply online. However, they must take the Admission Test at one of the Test centres located in India (see Prospectus). In addition, such applicants are also requested to share their Application ID through an email to dean@isical.ac.in with the subject Overseas Application for Admission 2026-27.

A: 

The applicant must initially register at the ISI Application Portal. An account will be created for the applicant in the portal, through which she/he can conveniently ll up the application form and also make payment of the application fee after submission of the form. After completion of application, the applicant will be able to pay the application fee through the payment gateway. Payment can be made in the online mode (See application portal for details).

Once the candidate has registered in the Application Portal, veri ed the e-mail address, lled up Category information and chosen an Academic Programme, the portal will show only the relevant Admission Channels to the candidate.

Q:   What is the permanent resident/domicile reservation criteria for ISI Admission Test?
A: 

Validity of EWS and OBC-NCL certi cate, Permanent Resident/ Domicile certi cate and PwD certi cate:

  • Category certi cates (EWS and OBC-NCL), Permanent Resident/ Domicile Certi cate for domiciles of North-East states of India and PwD certi cates must be valid on the day of the ISI Admission Test scheduled on 12 May 2024.
  •  At the time of application, the candidates must upload a document that will remain valid on the day of the ISI Admission Test to be held on 12 May 2024.
  • The candidates will be given an opportunity to update the Category related information (EWS, OBC-NCL status), North-East domicile status and PwD information during 14-15 May, 2024 after the ISI admission test.

ISI Admission Test 2026 Exam Pattern

The ISI Admission Test exam pattern is designed to test the subject-related knowledge of the candidates who are appearing in the examination. The ISI Admission Test pattern for the academic session 2026-2027 is yet to be announced. However, the chances of change in exam pattern is merely very less and it is anticipated that the ISI Admission Test 2025 will be held in two parts. Part A will have multiple choice questions and Part B will be descriptive in nature. The language of the exam is English. Candidates are allowed to use scientific calculators without programmable features. Negative marking applies to Section 1 only. Candidates need to qualify for both sections to be considered for admission. The specific syllabus and question paper format may vary slightly for different programs.

Q:   What is the ISI Admission Test negative marking scheme?
A: 

ISI Admission Test 2025 exam pattern depicts that there will be two sections in the examination where section A will have multiple choice questions (MCQ) and section B will have descriptive type questions.

Only the section A will have negative marking scheme. For every correct answer +4 marks will be awarded to the candidates and to every wrong answer marked by the candidates, -1 mark will be deducted.

As section B is descriptive in nature no marks will be deducted for the incorrect answer marked by the candidates.

ISI Admission Test 2026 is expected to be conducted in the second week of May 2026, tentatively. The examination will held for admissions to the UG and PG programmes offered by the Indian Statistical Institute. Both the courses will be held in two different shift. Q:   Is ISI Admission Test admit card 2026 available offline?
A: 

No. Candidates will have to download the ISI Admission Test 2026 admit card online. The admit card will not be sent to the candidate via mail, post or courier. Hence, as and when the admit card is released, candidates will have to visit the official website of the exam, log in with their registration credentials and download the document in PDF format. They must also ensure that they download the admit card immediately after release and not wait until the last moment.

The Institute will declare the ISI Admission Test Results for UG and PG entrance exams on the official website. ISI-K would also display the result on the notice boards of the respective faculty/departments. The personal interview is the final step for the admission of the candidates.

On the basis of the candidate’s performance in the ISI Admission Test, the list of eligible candidates will be prepared to attend the final interview round at the India Statistical Institute, North-East Centre-Tezpur. Such candidates will have to download their call letters and attend the interview in person as per the scheduled dates and time. Hereby, the candidate’s selection will be subjected to document verification and submission of the domicile certificates (if applicable). After verification and qualifying in the interview, candidates must complete their admission formalities to confirm their admissions.
