Calicut University MA admission 2021 is conducted through the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) called PGCAP. CAP offers the facility for online submission of application to various colleges and programmes under Calicut University. Also known as the University of Calicut, it is a state university that offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and doctoral programmes, under 35 different departments divided into nine schools, for different streams, such as Law, Engineering, Science, Commerce and Management, among others. Calicut University MA Admission 2021

Calicut University MA admission is based on the entrance exam conducted by the University. Available in over 20 specialisations, this is a two-year programme. However, there are a few MA programmes that include other factors as well while final selection. For all MA programmes, OBC/OEC candidates are eligible to get a relaxation up to 5% and SC/ST candidates need only to get a pass. The minimum eligibility criteria required for General category candidates along with a list of specialisations available under MA are listed as follows:

BA Arabic/Afsal-ul-ulama/ Double Main with Arabic/ BA Functional Arabic Degree with at least 50% aggregate in OR BA/BSc degree with Arabic in Part II with at least 50% marks

Economics

BA with Economics/Foreign Trade/Development Economics (Main) or equivalent with at least 45% aggregate

OR

BSc with Statistics/Mathematics (Main) or equivalent degree with at least 70% aggregate

English

BA English Language & Literature/ BA English & History/ BA Functional English with at least 45% aggregate for English main papers OR BA/BSc degree with at least 45% aggregate

Hindi

BA English Language & Literature /Functional Hindi/ Hindi & History (Main) Degree with at least 45% aggregate OR BA/BSc degree with Hindi with at least 45% aggregate

Music

BA Music degree with at least 45% aggregate

Philosophy

Any UG degree or equivalent with at least 50% aggregate

Women's Studies

Any degree of this university or an equivalent degree with aggregate 45% (Part I, II and III together) marks OR equivalent grade with a genuine interest in women's issues

Islamic Studies

Any graduate of this university including Afsal-Ul-Ulama/ Arabic/ Urdu/ Persian with at least 45% aggregate

Tamil

BA Tamil (Main) degree with at least 50% aggregate OR BA/BSc degree in Tamil with at least 50% aggregate

Folklore Studies

Any graduation recognised by UGC /Calicut University with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade

Sanskrit Sahitya (Special)

BA Sanskrit (core) OR BA/BSc degree in Sanskrit or equivalent degree with 50% aggregate

Sanskrit Language and Literature (General)

Post Afzal - Ul - Ulama

BA Arabic/Afsal-ul-ulama/ double main in Arabic with at least 45% aggregate

OR
BA/BSc in Arabic with at least 45% aggregate or equivalent degree

Political Science

BA in Political Science (Main) OR any other degree with at least one main paper (BA Public Administration, BA West Asian Studies) OR complementary/subsidiary paper in Political Science with 45% aggregate

History

Any first degree of this university or equivalent with at least 50% aggregate or equivalent grade

Comparative Literature

Any UG degree with at least 50% aggregate

Islamic History

Any BA degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade

Multimedia

Any UG degree with a minimum aggregate of 45%

Malayalam

BA Malayalam Language & Literature (Main) degree with at least 45% aggregate

OR
BA/BSc degree with Malayalam with at least 45% aggregate

Malayalam with Journalism

Islamic Finance

Any bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 45% aggregate

Sociology

Any UG degree with at least 50% aggregate

MA in Public Administration

- Any degree in Social Sciences or equivalent with 45% aggregate in mark system or CGPA equivalent to 50% in grade system

- Any degree in Language, Science, Commerce, etc. or equivalent degree with 55% aggregate in marks system or CGPA equivalent to 60% in grade system

Journalism and Mass Communication

- A pass in any bachelor's degree course with a minimum of 50% aggregate or equivalent grade

- Professional graduates with a minimum of 60% aggregate are also eligible

Apart from the above-mentioned specialisations, MA is also available in Politics (Specialised In West Asian Studies), West Asian Studies, Applied Economics, Financial Economics, Gandhian Studies, Vocal and Geography.

Calicut University MA Application Process 2021

Calicut University MA application process 2021 is completely online. Candidates can apply to PGCAP along with the course-specific entrance exams conducted by the University. The following infographic shows the four-step application process of Calicut University:

On the official website (www.cuonline.ac.in), candidates must visit the registration link (provided on the webpage) and complete the following step-by-step process:

Step 1: Candidates applying for PG entrance exam or merit-based admission shall initially create a CAP ID by providing the basic details after clicking on the ‘New User (Create CAP ID)’ on the registration page.

Step 2: After successful submission of the details, a CAP ID and password is sent to the registered mobile number instantly.

Step 3:  With the CAP ID and password received on the registered mobile number, candidates can log in and fill the application form by entering the required data. Utmost attention needs to be paid while selecting the reservation category while form filling.

Step 4: After completing the registration form, click on ‘Finalise & Proceed to Payment’ button and make payment.
