IIMC Entrance Exam 2018 for admission to PG Diploma programs in English/Hindi Journalism, Radio & TV Journalism, and Advertising & PR courses was conducted today, May 27. The exam for all the courses was conducted within a gap of one hour. While the IIMC exam for Print Journalism courses was conducted from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, papers for Radio & TV Journalism and Advertising & PR courses were conducted from 12 Noon to 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, respectively.

IIMC Entrance Exam for English/Hindi Journalism: Paper Analysis

Yes, a candidate can apply through online mode. IIMC Delhi accepts online applications through its official website. This registration process shall be carried out after the declaration of CUET-PG application process and candidates who meet the cutoff can apply. Aspirants need to fill in the application form with details such as name, parent’s name, educational details, etc. Further, to submit the form, aspirants have to pay an application fee. The application fee payment can be done through credit card/debit card/net banking. Students should keep the receipt with them for future references.
IIMC Entrance Exam 2018 pattern for admission to the PG Diploma in Journalism course was different than past year papers. Till last year, IIMC papers contained five subjective questions that candidates had to complete in two hours duration. However, in the 2018 paper, the institute also introduced objective questions like MCQs, fill-in-the-blanks, and one-word answers.
Overall, in THE IIMC Entrance Exam 2018, candidates were asked a total of five questions (subjective as well as objective) to be completed in two hours. The maximum mark that candidates could score in the exam was 85. It may be noted that there was no negative marking on the paper.

No, there is no sectional time limit in the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) entrance exam. The IIMC exam is of two hours, and candidates will have to answer 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) on General Knowledge and General Aptitude, including a few general questions from the field of Media & Communication.
For the candidates appearing for CUET PG, the exam pattern is such that the number of questions will be 100 and they will be divided into two parts: Part A: Consisting of Language Comprehension/Verbal Ability, General Awareness, Mathematical/Quantitative Ability and Analytical Skills comprising of 25 MCQs and Part B: Domain Knowledge comprising of 75 MCQs. The NTA Score of CUET (PG) 2024 would be valid for admission to the academic year 2024-25 only. Scores and candidate data would be shared with the University where he/she has applied. The Score Card will contain separate scores for Part I General papers (25 questions) and Part II Domain Knowledge (75 questions) for each course wherever applicable). The University can draw the merit list based on the total score or only on the score achieved in Part II the Domain Knowledge Section.
Similar to Question 2, in Question 3 also candidates had to write essay-type answers of 250 words. Out of a total number of four questions, candidates had to attempt any two questions on current affairs topics such as “Explain the Cambridge Analytica – Facebook Scandal” and “Analyse India’s performance at Commonwealth Games in Australia.”
In Question 4 candidates had to write two short notes on any of the given eight topics such as “Life of a Journalist”, “Right to Privacy”, “Crowdfunding”, and “India-France Relations.
Question 5 contained fill-in-the-blanks related to grammar. The question had five sub-questions and candidates had to attempt all of them. Some of the questions asked included:

Similar to the Print Journalism paper, the IIMC Entrance Exam 2018 for Radio & TV Journalism course admissions was also easy. However, there were slight changes in the exam pattern for the Radio & TV Journalism course as well.
Similar to the 2017 exam, the 2018 paper for the course contained five questions. However, unlike last year, this year, candidates had to attempt only four questions out of the given five questions. Also, as opposed to the previous year’s paper, this year’s Radio & TV Journalism paper carried a weightage of 75 marks rather than 85 marks.

It may be noted that the institute did not mention the individual weightage of different sections in the exam. However, the question paper stated, “The test is aimed at assessing your awareness of certain issues, communication skills and analytical bent of mind.” The exam did not have any negative markings.
Here’s a quick question-wise analysis of the Radio & TV Journalism exam:
In Question 1 candidates had to write short notes of 150 words on topics such as “Swachh Bharat”, “PM’s recent visit to Nepal”, and “Karnataka Poll Verdict”. Candidates had to write on any three topics of the given five options.
In Question 2 candidates had to describe personalities such as “Khushwant Singh”, “Prabhu Chawla”, and “Arnab Goswami”. Candidates had to describe any three personalities of the given five options in a minimum of ten sentences.
In Question 3 candidates had to write about a TV/Radio program that they like the most and also state the reason for it by citing examples. This question did not have any word limit.
In Question 4 candidates had to state why some personalities were in the news in a minimum of ten sentences. Personalities on which candidates had to write included, “Arjan Singh”, “Vladimir Putin”, “Indu Malhotra”, “Meghna Gulzar”, and “Saina Nehwal”. Candidates had to write on any three of these personalities.
In Question 5 candidates had to translate a paragraph in Hindi and vice-versa.
IIMC Entrance Exam for Advertising & PR: Paper Analysis
IIMC paper for the Advertising & PR course did not hold any major surprises for candidates. Similar to past papers, the 2018 paper contained a total of five questions that candidates had to complete in two hours. There was no negative marking in the exam. However, this year, total weightage for the exam was reduced to 75 marks from 85 marks.

In Question 1 candidates had to write on any one topic of the given two topics. There was no word limit for the question. The two topics included:
• In what ways gender stereotyping is used in advertising? Discuss by giving as many examples of advertisements as you could, to support your answer.
• Discuss any campaign on a social issue that you think is extremely effective by giving reasonable arguments in terms of its execution.
In Question 2 candidates had to critically analyze any two of the given five statements by giving as many examples as possible. Some of the statements were:
• If you are not paying for the product, you are the product.
• Advertising has desensitized consumers and hence, there is no point worrying about its effects.
• Brands are increasingly including social media lingo in advertisements designed for traditional media.
In Question 3 candidates had to write a script for a 40-60 second radio spot on any one of the given four themes – “Digital India”, “Women’s Cricket”, “Girl Child Education”, and “Open Defecation Free (ODF)”. In the question, candidates also had to mention target audience their radio jingle/spot was addressing and why.
In Question 4 candidates had to review a film in 300 words. There were ten options given for films such as “Hichki”, “Padmaavat”, “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha”, “Newton”, “Hindi Medium”, “Raid”, “Raazi”, etc.
Question 5 included two options (as mentioned below) of which candidates had to attempt any one.
• Have you ever felt enlightened by an event in the past that has given you a new perspective on life? Please explain in 300 words.
• If you could meet any of your favorite politicians/ film actors/ sports personalities, who would you prefer to meet and why?
IIMC Entrance Exam 2018 results for all the courses are scheduled to be declared in the second/ third week of June 2018. The merit list for the IIMC Entrance Exam will be prepared based on marks secured by candidates in the written test. Candidates clearing the written exam will then be called for the next round of admissions – group discussion/ personal interview.

For admission to a IIMC New Delhi PG Diploma course, candidate should have passed bachelor's degree programme from a recognised university.
