The application process for IIMC entrance exam

Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) conducts entrance tests to offer admission to candidates in different journalism and mass communication courses it has on offer at postgraduate level.

Candidates who wish to study mass communication courses at the postgraduate level need to appear for the IIMC entrance exam. However, prior to appearing for the IIMC entrance test, candidates need to register for the exam by filling the application form either in the online or offline mode.

The detailed information regarding the application process for IIMC entrance exam 2017 is given below.

Online Application Process for IIMC Entrance Exam 2017

Candidates applying in the online mode for IIMC Entrance Exam 2017 need to fill the application form on the official website of IIMC. To do so candidates are required to click the “Post Graduate Diploma Courses” icon present under the “Admissions” icon on the Home page of IIMC’s website. On clicking the icon, candidates will be redirected to another page. Click the “Apply for Online Application Form” link present on the page and the application form will open on the screen. The details to be filled in the online form are mentioned below:

Course details: Here, candidates need to select the name of the postgraduate diploma course that they want to apply for along with mentioning two choices for examination centre, and medium of exam (from English/ Hindi/ Odia).

Applicant details: This includes candidates’ personal details such as name, date of birth, gender, nationality (Indian/ NRI), category (General/ SC/ ST/ OBC), mailing address, mobile number, and email ID. Here, candidates also need to upload their photo and signature. The file size of the signature and photograph should be of 10-20KB and file type should be jpeg/jpg.

Guardian details: It includes mentioning details like candidate’s father’s name and profession, mother’s name and profession, and annual family income.

Education qualification details: Here, candidates need to select their status of graduation (passed/ appearing/ result awaited) and mention other qualification details of class 10th, 12th, graduation, and post-graduation. These details include the name of the university/ board, passing year, percentage scored, name of college/ school, and division/ grade.

Work experience details: This includes filling the work experience related details such as designation name, name of institution, and duties performed.

Note: All the categories in the online form marked with a red star (*) are mandatory to be filled.

Once the form is duly filled, candidates need to click the “Submit” button. On clicking the button, the form will be submitted successfully and candidates will be redirected to the payment gateway. Here, candidates need to pay the application fee electronically. Once the fee is paid, the online application process for IIMC entrance exam is complete.

Offline Application Process for IIMC Entrance Exam 2017

Candidates applying in the offline mode need to download the application form for their respective course on the official website of IIMC. Once downloaded, candidates need to take a printout of the form and start filling.

Details to be filled in the downloaded application form are mentioned below:

Details of Demand Draft (DD): The application fee for IIMC entrance exam has to be paid in the form of DD drawn in favour of “Registrar, IIMC, New Delhi”. Therefore, candidates must fill all DD details (DD number, fees, date of issue, and bank name) in the form properly.

Choice of examination centre: To fill the exam centre preference, candidates need to fill the respective exam centre code in the form. Note that candidates can provide maximum two preferences for the exam centre. Also, candidates applying for Odia Journalism can give the exam at Bhubaneswar exam centre only.

Preference for IIMC centre: Candidates need to list their preference for cities from where they want to pursue their mass communication/ journalism course.

Note: This option is valid only for candidates appearing for Journalism (English) entrance exam at IIMC.

Medium of exam: Candidates who want to give their respective IIMC entrance exam in Hindi language need to put ‘A1’ code in the space provided on the form. Also, candidates who want to take the English medium exam need to put ‘B2’ code. Note that the option for choosing medium of exam is not valid for Journalism (English), Journalism (Hindi), and Odia Journalism entrance exams.

Personal details: Here, aspirants need to mention their details such as name, date of birth, gender, nationality, category, and mobile number.

Family details: Information to be furnished here includes details like father’s name and profession, mother’s name and profession, and annual family income.

Educational qualification details: Here, candidates need to mention the status of graduation (passed/appearing/result awaited), senior secondary, and high school.

Work experience: Candidates need to fill their work experience details in the form of their designation, the institution they worked for, and duties performed.

Contact information: Here, candidates need to mention their name and mailing address.

Signature: Here, candidates are required to put their signature in the box provided.

Photograph: Candidates are required to paste their duly attested passport-size photograph on the form.

Important Instructions for Downloaded IIMC Application Forms

• Candidates can fill the downloaded application form in their own handwriting only.

• Candidates can fill the downloaded form using black ink only.

• Candidates need to fill separate application forms for separate courses. However, for Journalism (Hindi) and Journalism (English) courses, candidates can fill either of the application forms. This is because there will be a common entrance exam and common question paper for both courses.

• If any field in the application form is not applicable to a particular candidate, he/she should write ‘NA’/’No’/’Nil’. On the contrary, if any item is applicable, candidate should indicate it with a tick mark.

• Candidates should fill the complete form. Any form with incomplete information will be rejected by IIMC.

• Once the application form is filled completely, candidates need to send the application form along with the DD (by post) to the below mentioned address:
