Mystory@Ayushman Joshi: How I chose my course and college
I took Science stream in class XI-XII because of my interest in the subjects, especially Chemistry. Chemistry is a subject which grabbed my attention all the time. The credit for that same goes to my Chemistry teacher whose way of teaching inspired me to pursue this subject further after class X. Mathematics too was a subject of interest to me and I used to enjoy solving mathematical problems. These two subjects were my biggest motivators. Though the result was just about satisfactory but I still don’t rue my decision of choosing the Science stream.
During my 11th and 12th, I was involved in lots of co-curricular activities, and one my mentors in school suggested me to do my graduation in Mass Communication. After researching about the course, I was fascinated by it and started looking for colleges. I found Amity School of Communication to be one of the best colleges for Mass Communication with good infrastructure and equipment, which offers good exposure to students. All these factors influenced my decision of choosing this course and college.
How I cracked college admission
The entrance test for BA (Journalism & Mass Communication) at Amity School of Communication, Noida was a simple English Language test followed by an interview by the faculty of the institute. I had spoken to a few of my friends who were studying in Amity University about the test and how I should prepare for it. They guided me and helped me in clearing the entrance.
I did not take up any coaching except for the tuition for my class XII Boards. Apart from Amity Entrance, I did not give any other entrance test. Along with Amity, I had applied for Delhi University but could not clear the cut-off for my preferred course.
My college experience
My start to college life was a bit low as I joined late and took some time to settle in college. But slowing and steadily, I started settling in and started making good friends. Once I settled in the college, things became easier. I started indulging more. The first semester went pass quickly and I learnt a lot in 6 months from the experienced teachers of Amity University.
My interest lies in Television Journalism which is why I liked the subjects related to it. I liked attending classes of these subjects. Another subject which grabbed my attention was Advertising. It is an interesting field with lots of scope. I am lucky that I got a very good teacher who boosted my interest in the subject. My time in college is spent attending lectures or spending quality time with my mates. I am lucky to have found such good friends. Not only do I share a good bond with them but also have similar interests. This is one thing which helps being comfortable when I am with them.
I had volunteered for the Amity Youth Fest which is an annual cultural fest of Amity University. I was part of the hospitality department. Though the experience wasn’t as good as I expected but I learnt a few things. If given a chance, I would like to take part in the Sports events which I have not yet been able to because of various reasons. I would love to be more active in sports.
My college experience has given me various life lessons and I consider myself not only a better person than before but also a better practical thinker. I have started thinking more rationally and have realized the real value of time. My college experience has made me learn to be consistent in life which has in turn helped me in becoming a better person.
