2 mins readUpdated on Jul 30, 2019 11:51 IST

In a recent conversation with Shiksha, Bhawna Bhojwani talks about her experience of GD & PI process for admission at Sri Balaji Society's Balaji Institute of Modern Management, Pune. She has talked about the questions asked by the panelists and also has a few tips for aspiring students.

Q. What were the GD topics at the time of your admission?

A.

These were the topics of discussion -

a. Son of soil

b. Digital India

c. Bitcoin

Q. What were your focus areas during GD preparation?

A.

I mostly focused on current affairs topics like-

a. Demonetization
b. GST
c. Digital India/Make in India
d. Basel norms
e. Various types of army, navy -exercise between different nations
f. Political scenario
g. Different policies and schemes introduced by PM Narendra Modi

Q. What methods did you use to prepare for your GD?

A.

I signed up for different sites such as GK Today, Jagran Josh GK, etc. Also, earlier I had joined TIME institute and therefore every month I received magazines that contained news and quizzes.

Q. Q4: Did you take any help (coaching centers/materials) to prepare for your GD? If yes, please share the details.

A.

I joined a coaching institute but I didn't take their special GK or GD/PI Classes. I prepared solely through the magazines provided by them.

Q. How many panelists were there?

A.

Panelists - 1 or 2
Participants - Varies from 8 to 12

One particular question that was asked to me was 'Which is your favourite film or character?'

Q. What were the questions asked in your PI?

A.

Following are the questions asked in my Personal Interview round:

   Tell me about yourself

   What are your hobbies?

   What are your achievements?

Why are you choosing this college?

Which specialization do you want to pursue and why?

Your interest areas (Advice - Be very clear in terms of your interests that you say since most of your PI revolves around it)

Whic is your favourite film or character? Give reasons as to why you like that character.

Q. How did you prepare for your PI?

A.

I read excerpts and watched videos. I would watch videos of premiere B-schools interviews basically for the common questions that they asked.

Q. What strategies (books/reference materials/coaching) did you apply for preparation of PI?

A.

I did not refer to any book or coaching material. Try to evaluate your strong areas where you can go good going in the interview. Beforehand, try to understand why to take admission in that particular college so that you can justify it infront of them.

If you are planning for a particular specialisation, then gather some knowledge regarding the same.

Q. How was your overall GD & PI experience?

A.

Overall, it was good.

Q. What tips would you give to the aspirants appearing for GD & PI?

A.

Be confident and up to date. Have at least a strong hold on one particular area. I would suggest you to have a rough idea of the common national topics.

Q. What is the lesser-known fact about GDPI?

A.

Your confidence matters a lot here. Try to maintain eye contact and a good posture. Also, don't point fingers at someone or don't exaggerate by using hand movements. It shows lack of confidence instead. Don't babble, instead try to explain the point with facts and in a crisp manner. Be confident and carry a smile on the face.
