IIT Kharagpur MBA admission criteria
IIT Kharagpur offers MBA programme through its management school – Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSOM). The institute offers General MBA with various elective courses. IIT Kharagpur MBA course is ranked among top 100 in India. In the NIRF ranking 2025, it is ranked No. 19. For admission to the batch of 200, the institute accepts CAT score. IIT Kharagpur MBA Admission Process 2025
IIT Kharagpur MBA admission is done in two stages. In both stages CAT score is taken into consideration:
Stage 1: Shortlisting for Personal Interview (PI) based on CAT score and academic record
Stage 2: Final selection of the candidates for admission based on a combined score comprising application rating (AR), CAT performance, and personal interview (PI) performance.

The CAT cut offs for IIM Bangalore hovers between 97-100 percentile. The qualifying CAT cut off required for being eligible for IIM Bangalore's Written Ability test (What) and Personal Interview PI is 85 percentile for General category students, whereas for SC candidates, it is 70 percentile. IIT Kharagpur MBA Eligibility Criteria
To apply for IIT Kharagur MBA course, candidates are required to fulfill the following eligibility criteria along with having a valid CAT score.
- A Bachelor's degree of minimum 4-year duration in engineering/technology/pharmacy or a Master's degree in Science/Economics/Commerce (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor's level)
- Minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying degree for General/EWS/OBC candidates is 60% or CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale and for SC/ST/PWD candidates, it is 55% or CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale.
- Final year students are also eligible to apply for the course, but they will have to submit passing certificate by May 31, 2025.

Yes, it is possible to score 99.99 percentile in CAT in first attempt. Many toppers of previous years' are such candidates. One must study in a focussed manner and do a lot of mock test practice. Exam day strategy is also crucial for better performance.
IIT Kharagpur MBA Admission Process: Final Selection
The final selection will be done on the basis of composite scores of the candidates calculated after the conduct of PI round. The following parameters will be considered for calculation of composite score for final admission.

No, students can not join VGSOM IIT Kharagpur without CAT. Admission to the Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSOM) MBA programme at IIT Kharagpur is based on CAT scores and a personal interview. Candidates must also have a 4-year bachelor's degree with a minimum of 60% marks.
