IIT Madras offers MBA course through its Department of Management Studies (DMS). IIT Madras MBA is ranked No. 13 among the top management courses in India in the MHRD-NIRF rankings 2025. Admission to IIT Madras MBA programme is based on CAT exam score. The application process for IIT Madras MBA admission begins in January, soon after announcement of the CAT result. Candidates who qualify CAT with above 80 percentile can apply for MBA at IIT Madras DMS. Selection of candidates is done on the basis of Personal Interview (PI) and Reflective Writing which is conducted in February-March every year.
The institute will release MBA admission criteria and selection process 2026 soon. There is however no change expected from last year. As per the tentative schedule shared by IIT Madras, the PI round will be conducted in March 2026 and final admission list will be released in May 2026. IIT Madras MBA Admission 2026: Eligibility Criteria
Aspirants have to meet the minimum eligibility criteria determined by the institute for MBA. Check below:
- The candidate must have a minimum score of 60% in graduation or equivalent from a recognized university.
- For candidates belonging to Reserved categories, the minimum score required on graduation is 55 %.
- Final year graduation students are also eligible to apply. Such candidates will have to produce provisional certificate of degree completion within two months of joining the program.
- IIT Graduates who have obtained a CGPA of 8 and above on 10 are exempted from CAT score.
IIT Madras MBA Admission Process 2026
IIT Madras MBA Admission Process 2026 includes three stages. The aspirant has to clear all the three stages to be able to get admission call.
- State 1: Shortlisting of candidates on the basis of CAT score
- Stage 2: Conduct of Personal Interview (PI) and Reflective Writing
- Stage 3: Final selection based on Composite Score of the candidates

IIT Madras MBA Cut Offs
Candidates will be selected for the first round of IIT Madras MBA admission on the basis of CAT 2025 cut offs. Check below category wise IIT Madras CAT cut off:
- IIT Madras MBA cut off is usually around 96 percentile.
- For Reserved category students the CAT cut offs can be expected to be around 85 percentile.

Candidates having 24 to 36 months of work experience will get the maximum points, while candidates having less than 12 years of work experience will get minimum points. Check below:

IIT Madras MBA Admission 2026: Final Selection
The final selection of candidates for MBA admission will be based on the following with due weights to each of the components:
- Reflective Writing and Personal Interview
- Composite score
- Other Achievements
Upon final selection, candidates will be informed via email. The admission offer will be mailed to selected candidates on their registered email ID. To accept the offer of admission, candidates will have to pay the requisite fee (tuition deposit) before the deadline.

The CAT cut offs for IIM Bangalore hovers between 97-100 percentile. The qualifying CAT cut off required for being eligible for IIM Bangalore's Written Ability test (What) and Personal Interview PI is 85 percentile for General category students, whereas for SC candidates, it is 70 percentile. CAT cut offs do not flutuate much. For the past few years, the CAT exam cut offs for IIMs or other top colleges have not seen much change. If there is any change at all, it is in decimals. However, that decimal point too can make or mar admission chances. CAT cut offs for 2026 admission will largely remain the same as the CAT 2025 exam difficulty level was same as last year and number of takers dipped from last year.
