Can We Do MBA After 12th?

The first question in the students' minds is, 'Can I do MBA after 12th?'. The answer is, yes! The solution to this is opting for an integrated MBA programme. An Integrated MBA programme is a combination of a bachelor's degree and an MBA degree. The concept of an integrated MBA has gained substantial popularity and traction in the past few years. The reason for the popularity of integrated programmes is their distinctive structure and curriculum and the career opportunities they bring with them. Q:   Does IIM offer integrated (BBA+MBA) course?

Various IIMs offer integrated MBA or BBA+MBA courses. The first IIM to begin offering the Integrated MBA was IIM Indore. The institute offers five-year intergrated programme in Management. The other IIMs which offer intergeated MBA course include IIM Rohtak, IIM Ranchi, IIM Amritsar, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Banglore, IIM Jammu, IIM Bodhgaya, etc. 

Integrated MBA: An Explanation

Integrated MBA is a 5-year MBA course that aims to prepare students for managerial jobs and a career in the field of business from Class 12 onwards. An integrated MBA is a combined course of undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

An Integrated MBA is a dual degree programme which helps the students to understand the minute details of business management concepts while enabling them specialize in a particular field of finance.

Some of the top colleges in India which offer integrated MBA programmes include the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Indore (IIM Indore), Indian Institute of Management, Rohtak (IIM Rohtak), Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi (IIM Ranchi), Nirma University, NIIT University, etc.

MBA After 12th: Eligibility Criteria

There are a few requirements that the students need to fulfil before applying for MBA courses after 12th. The following is the eligibility criteria for MBA after 12th:

  • Candidates must have completed Class 12 from a recognized board or institute
  • Candidates must have secured at least 60% aggregate in Class 12
  • Most MBA courses after 12th require the candidates to appear for an entrance exam

Many institutes conduct Written Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds, for admission to the MBA programmes. Students who qualify the entrance exam are called for the GDPI rounds. Students are selected based on their past academic performance, scores obtained in entrance exams, performance in WAT/GD/PI process, and work experience (if any).

Can We Do an MBA After 12th Science, Commerce or Arts

The answer to the question, 'Can we do MBA after 12th science, commerce and/or arts', is twofold. Students cannot do MBA directly after 12th. They need to complete their graduation and then appear for the MBA entrances. But, students can opt for integrated MBA courses if they wish to pursue MBA after 12th, as the course is open to all streams. If the candidate meets the cutoff percentage, then he/she is eligible to appear for the Intergrated MBA entrance exams after Class 12th. Transitioning from science to MBA will open many doors for students on the career front. It is in fact, one of the most popular choices among students. 

Students cannot do an MBA immediately after Class 12, but they can opt for an alternative, which is Intergrated MBA courses.

MBA After 12th: Entrance Exams

As mentioned above, many colleges accept the scores of entrance exams for admission to MBA courses after Class 12. Here is the list of popular integrated MBA entrance exams:

  • IPMAT: Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test (IPMAT) is conducted by IIM Indore and is a gateway for admission to the five-year Integrated Program in Management. The students will be provided with a Bachelor of Arts (Foundations of Management) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) by IIM Indore at the end of the programme.
  • IPMAT Rohtak: Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test, IPMAT Rohtak, is conducted by IIM Rohtak. At successful completion of the course, students will be given a BBA and MBA degree.
  • UGAT: AIMA Undergraduate Aptitude Test (UGAT) is conducted for admission to undergraduate programmes such as Integrated MBABBABCAand BHM and other courses. 
  • NPAT: NPAT or NMIMS Programs After Twelfth is conducted for admission to courses including BBA, BSc(Finance), BSc (Economics), BCom (Hons.), B.A. (Hons) Liberal Arts and BBM. Different campuses of NMIMS situated at Mumbai, Shirpur, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Navi Mumbai, Indore and Dhule offers integrated MBA admission based on the NPAT scores.
