AIMA UGAT 2026: Counselling, Participating Colleges

AIMA UGAT 2026 exam was conducted on June 14, 2026. The exam was conducted in the paper based test mode in different cities. 

UGAT registration form was released online and the application window was open till June 7, 2026. The application schedule is announced on the official website of UGAT.

AIMA conducts the UGAT exam in a paper based test mode at various centres. Candidates need to visit the allotted test centre to take the paper based UGAT exam. At the UGAT exam centre, each candidate is given the OMR sheet to mark the answers against each question. Yes, students who are in Class 12 or are awaiting for their Class 12 results can certainly apply for the UGAT exam. The basic eligibility crtieria for appearing for the UGAT exam is as follows:

• Candidate must have secured at least 50% aggregate at Class 12 level
• There is no age bar. Candidates of any age can appear for the exam.
• Applicants in Class 12 or awaiting the results are also eligible to apply provisionally. This means that they would be requireed to present their Class 12 marksheet, school leaving certificate, transfer certificate, etc. at the time of admission. If the candidate fails to submit the required documents, then, their candidature will be cancelled.

The UGAT difficulty level can be different for each candidate preparing for the exam. The candidates who are preparing for the exam must know the exam pattern, UGAT concepts, etc. Usually, the difficulty level of the UGAT exam is easy to moderate. Candidates can crack the UGAT exam with proper preparation, practicing mock tests and previous years' question papers can help the candidates crack the UGAT exam. Dedication and concistency will come in handy for the UGAT preparation.

Yes, the UGAT exam has negative marking. Candidates appearing for the UGAT exam must know that UGAT question paper has negative marking for each incorrect answer that they mark during the exam. Two marks will be awarded to the candidates for each correct answer they mark and 0.5 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer. Candidates should carefully mark the answers during the exam. 

No, the UGAT exam cannot be given remotely. Every year the UGAT exam is conducted in the paper-based test mode. In 2021, the exam was however conducted in the internet-based test mode because of the coronavirus pandemic. Ever since, the UGAT exam has always been conducted in the paper-based test mode (CBT). To take the exam, candidates have to visit the UGAT exam centre and take the exam offline. They can choose upto five preferred UGAT test cities during the UGAT exam registration. Candidates must reach the test centre at least an hour before the commencement of the exam in order to avoid any hassle on the exam and complete the frisking formalities at the exam GATE smoothly. 

Covering the UGAT syllabus depends on the current level of UGAT preparation, understanding of the concepts and syllabus and the time candidates can devote to studying each day.

Completing the UGAT syllabus in six months can be easier if the candidate has a strong hold on the subjects in the UGAT syllabus, such as Mathematics, English, General Knowledge and Reasoning. Students should assess how many hours they can dedicate to UGAT preparation each day. Consistent and focused daily study can help the candidate prepare well and cover the syllabus. To prepare better, aspirants should create a well structured study plan and allocate time for each topic, to cover the complete UGAT syllabus. When the candidates have covered the syllabus, they can leave some time in the final weeks before the exam for revision. 

Hence, six months can be enough to cover the UGAT syllabus.

As soon as the UGAT results are declared, candidates should download their scorecards and apply to the participating institutes' website as per the schedule. Candidates will be admitted to the colleges based on their UGAT rank. If they match the cutoff, they should take part in the counselling process and complete the document verification. 

Candidates will know their allotted UGAT exam centre only from the AIMA UGAT admit card. There is no way to know the test centre before the release of the UGAT admit card. The examination authority allots a test centre to aspirants in the city of their first preference as mentioned in the application form. So, candidates can atleast be assured that they will get a test centre in the city they had chosen as first preference in the UGAT application form. However, the venue will be mentioned only on the candidate’s admit card. So as soon as the UGAT admit card is released, candidates must check the test city and test centre details. In order to avoid any confusion, they must visit the centre at least once before the exam day.

During the UGAT registration process, candidates need to select their UGAT exam centre. The candidates can choose upto five UGAT exam centres  for the UGAT exam centre allotment. Candidates should choose the test centres in the order of their preference, as they cannot be changed after the UGAT exam application form submission. Follow the steps mentioned below to know how to select the UGAT exam centre:

• Register on the official website of AIMA UGAT
• Login to the candidate portal and fill the rest of the UGAT application form
• Under the 'test centre' tab, choose the preferred test cities.
• Candidates can select up to five test centres while filling out the UGAT exam application form.
• Candidates must select test centres in order of their preference, i.e. from first to fifth.
• Fill up the entire UGAT application form, pay the application fee and finally and click 'Submit'.

AIMA will conduct UGAT 2026 in the paper-based test mode. Applicants who wish to take the UGAT exam need to select their preferred examination city while filling out the UGAT 2026 application form. The details of the UGAT test centre will be mentioned on the UGAT admit card along with the date and time of the exam. The test takers are advised to take two printouts of the AIMA UGAT admit card and preserve at least one copy of the same till the end of the admission process. Institutes may seek a copy of admit card at the time of admission. The test takers must also carry a valid photo ID proof to the exam hall. 

The UGAT application/registration forms will be available online only on the official website of AIMA. The students who wish to appear for the UGAT exam, have to fill out the UGAT application form online along with paying the online application fee. In other words, UGAT application process is completely online and there is no provision of offline application. Candidates who wish to appear for the UGAT exam must follow the steps mentioned below to know how to register for the UGAT exam and log in to the AIMA website:

• Visit the official website of AIMA

• Click on the registration link for UGAT exam

• The candidate needs to generate a User ID and password using details such as name of the candidate, date of birth, mobile number, email ID, etc. 

• This User ID and password will also be sent to the candidate through registered email and SMS

• Next, the candidate needs to re-login using the credentials

• The next step is to enter the required details in the UGAT application form. Candidates must ensure that they enter the correct details as the same cannot be changed later

• Pay the registration fee through a Credit/Debit Card or internet Banking

• Candidates belonging to reserved categories need to submit valid and attested certificates supporting their reservation category 

UGAT scorecard was released by AIMA on June 24, 2026,. The scorecards is available only on the AIMA website. 

The following information will be printed on the UGAT scorecard:

• Name of the Candidate
• Roll Number
• Sectional score
• Composite score
• Percentile

Selected candidates have to participare in document verification round where they have to provide original certificates and documents and details such as DOB, address, communication details, etc.

No, after the UGAT exam is cleared, candidates will have to go through for further selection procedure conducted by the participating institutes. The UGAT scores are accepted various colleges and universities. Candidates need to meet the cutoff criteria of the participating institutes to take admissions. The admission process includes Written Ability Test (What), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI). Other factors such as academic record, work experience, etc. are also considered for admission to various institutes which accept UGAT scores. UGAT score is only the first parameter on which the candidates are shortlisted for admission. The institutes first shortlist the candidates for WAT, GD and PI on the basis of their UGAT scores, marks obtained in Class 12. For the final selection, the institutes take UGAT scores, performance in GD/PI, What, Class 12 marks, work experience, academic diversity and gender diversity are taken into consideration.

UGAT admit cards will be available online which the candidates can download. Candidates can use their login credentials I. e. username and date of birth for the UGAT admit card download. Students must carry a coloured print out of the UGAT admit card with a recent coloured passport size photography affixed to it to the exam centre in order to gain entry at the UGAT exam centre.

The UGAT counselling is conducted in online as well as offline mode. Candidates who have qualified for UGAT exam must register themselves online through the official website. However, the Personal Interview WAT/GD and document verification round under the counselling process is held offline at the designated helpline centres. Candidates who meet the UGAT cutoff, need to visit the centre for document verification as per their rank and other selection rounds such as PI and WAT. The seat allotment process is also conducted online based on the merit, category, and choices filled by the candidate during the registration process. Candidates can check their allotment status on the official website. The entire UGAT counselling process except the PI WATand document verification round is conducted in online mode.
