FIIB gave me many confidence building opportunities: Kanika Arora
In school (St. Paul’s School), I was an average child till class 10th and was able to manage all the subjects pretty well. Then, class 11th came and we all had to choose our own streams from among Science, Commerce and Arts. Being a student from the IIT city Kota, I was expected to select Science and enroll for IIT coaching, but my parents were always cool with me selecting subjects of my own interest. So, I went for commerce as my field after consulting some seniors. I thought it was best-suited for me and I believed I could excel in it.
After scoring a good percentage in class 12th, my next aim was to get a good college in Delhi University and pursue Bachelors of Commerce. It was a tough decision to select the college falling under my preference and my marks, as every year, the cut-offs were getting higher. But thankfully, I was able to join Kamala Nehru College (KNC) which was completing its 50th year anniversary in year 2015.
Later, choosing Fortune Institute of International Business (FIIB) was also a major decision in my life after selecting MBA for my further studies, and many portals such as Shiksha.com helped me to analyze all the colleges as per my preferences such as city of college, courses available, ranking, fees, etc.
During my 2nd year of Graduation, I started taking coaching classes for CAT from TIME Institute on weekends, as on the other days, I had to attend my B Com classes. They provided me with study material for CAT. It was mainly self-study material and I needed full concentration and focus as it was different from my graduation course.
I appeared for CAT, NMAT by GMAC, TISSNET, and CMAT. I was mainly looking for some Delhi based colleges which would fall under my category of score and fees. Also, area played a major role.
College apart from FIIB that I considered were – New Delhi Institute of Management, FORE School of Management, Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, IMI Delhi, IMI Kolkata, Jaipuria Institute of Management, BIMTECH, FOSTIIMA Business School, etc.
Currently, I am in the 2nd year of my PGDM from FIIB. The life which I have lived in the last 2 years has changed me, in fact, I can say it has groomed me into a better person for this competitive corporate world. These 2 years have been full of activities, industrial visits, presentations, learnings, college activities, making new friends, considering FIIB as my family for the next two years, having some dull days and also some proud moments.
I have myself seen the changes in me. As compared to the person I was in Graduation, now I am more confident. I’m clear about my goals, strengths and weaknesses, which I have worked upon with the help of my mentors and teachers in college. They have guided me throughout this time.
Position of Responsibility– I was selected as an active Student Placement Committee (SPAC) member, which helped me have industry interaction and corporate experience within the college.
Internships– My college gave me an opportunity to work for 3 months. My summer internship was at a startup, Yaantra in Delhi. It gave me a totally different experience of applying theoretical concepts on real-life practical problems.
Scholarship– FIIB knows how to give the students the boost to work hard and put in their efforts, and is always ready to give them rewards for it. I was rewarded with a scholarship at the beginning of course. Also, my name came in the list of top 15 performers of the year based on CGPA.
So, I would say that the world is full of opportunities; it’s just that you have to know your abilities and grab them.

Work experience is not imp. for the FIIB PGDM program. Newly graduated students can apply for the programme. However, students with 1–3 years of working experience can receive additional weightage, which consequently improves their chances of the PGDM selection process.

FIIB uses an AU video process for the interview, which helps to evaluate and understand the students' communication skills, critical thinking, confidence, etc. Once students complete their interview, the faculty reviews the answers and shortlist them for the upcoming processes.
