Our college helps in the overall development of the student, says Vasudha Chaturvedi
By: Vasudha Chaturvedi
I started preparing for the entrance exams from the third year of my under graduation. I got a decent score in CMAT and CAT on the basis of which I applied for ITM Business School. Finally, I got a call from the college for Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds.
After completing my matriculation, I decided to choose Science like every other student to pursue my career in the field of engineering. But as time passed, I realized that doing engineering was worthless to me as it would not make me stand out from the crowd. I then decided to go into the field of management, which I pursued after passing my higher secondary with 75%.
I opted for Bachelor in Management Studies and HR specialization as my under graduation and passed with flying colours. Along with that, I managed various college committees and also was selected to be the Student Manager for my college in Mumbai University. This gave me good exposure. After completing my graduation, I took a year gap for analyzing the industry trends and developing myself as per the market demand.
I worked as an HR officer in Reliance Retail. I literally loved my job as it involved dealing with different employees and managing their data. During the job, I developed an interest in data and came with meaningful insights.
After a year, I decided to do Post graduation. My interest in data led me to choose Business Analytics at ITM Business School. ITM Business School was one of my top priority due to various reasons like easy accessibility from my place, dedicated teaching staff etc. It also provides a 5-month i-connect internship which gives good exposure to students. The college has an updated curriculum as per industry needs. The college has a dynamic approach towards studies which is not only limited to theoretical knowledge but also helps to shape student's personality with the help of practical tasks.
I always wanted to pursue post-graduation. Hence I started preparing for the entrance exams from the third year of my under graduation. I got a decent score in CMAT and CAT on the basis of which I applied for ITM Business School. Finally, I got a call from the college for Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds.
The college conducts a scholarship exam in January which gives students 25%-100% of concession on first-year fees. I was able to get this scholarship and it was really a proud moment for me.
The students can choose either coaching or self-study for the preparation of entrance exam. I joined IMS Institute in Vashi for preparing for my CAT exam which proved helpful for me. I did not try much for other colleges as my first choice was ITM. The reason to choose ITM was that it was near to my house and I liked its programs very much.
Our college timings are usually 5-6 hours in a day and sometimes it too gets extended as per the demand and curriculum. Every day in college especially when you are pursuing an MBA is full of hustle and bustle. Each day you face a new challenge but at the same time, you learn new things and gain knowledge.
My day usually starts with lectures where we learn different concepts daily and discuss ideas. We also communicate strategies for a number of projects and manage time for different things which have to be done along with studies.
Our curriculum not only focuses on theoretical lectures but also improves the overall personality of the student. For the overall development of a student, the college arranges a number of activities like debates, group discussions, mock interviews, communication assessments, presentations, role plays, etc.
My interest lies in the field of Analytics and Communication due to which I host a number of events in college which include Melange (A team-building event for Freshers) and Classic Talkies (movie-making on brands and its strategies).
It is mandatory for every student to participate in such events as they give a chance to students to bring out the real manager hidden inside them.
