These all modules included interactive sessions and presentations which helped me grow, says Dr Ruchi
I always wanted to be a doctor, so I took admission in a dentistry institution right after I completed high school. Later, after taking admission, when I was in my second year, I realised that I would love to work in a hospital, but clinical work is not my forte. Then and there I started looking for the best institution of Hospital management in Delhi-NCR and India. During my dental internship, I talked to a few Alumni of International Institute of Health Management Research - IIHMR, Delhi who were supportive and guided me in the right direction.
The admission process was smooth, and I got admission. But it hit me when I realised that the classes were online due to the pandemic. I was surprised when the session began, and it was like I was sitting in the classroom with my classmates because all the sessions were interactive and fun to learn.
It begins with the communication session. For an introvert like me, it was difficult to speak and answer in class. But trust me, I was among those who were speaking frequently and interacting during the session because the environment made was so smooth and comforting. This was a great beginning. Later, it followed with Human Process lab where we discussed important aspects of life and the induction process ended with the subject Essentials of Computer Sciences in which Excel and other basics of computer were discussed. Various Health Industry lectures were also organised by IIHMR Delhi which let us talk to various Health Experts and gave a clearer view of future industry needs.

With a very interesting induction programme, it was time for the main syllabus to start with different modules. The induction process made everyone so comfortable that we all were excited about the session rather than being nervous. Health Policy and Health Care Delivery system was our first subject of the main course and it taught us about different policies made and followed in India in the health aspect. This was very informative and gave us all a clear insight into the policies and procedures being followed.
Next came was Hospital Services which I personally find very interesting, and the module was very clear and to the point about the things we needed to grasp. The faculty of this module was very cooperative, and it was fun learning about hospitals.
Health and Development and Principles of Management modules were quite interesting too and the way the staff was teaching and interacting in every session was like they know us personally and truly want us to grow in their modules.
Later, Financial Management and Accounting came, and I was nervous about it as I have a medical background. But the way it was taught was exceptional and I figured out if things are taught and told in the right way, they can be easily learned.
The last subject of our first semester was Introduction to Health Information Management which included all about management information systems and it gave us a look at how MIS works in a hospital, the innovations, and the progress of the hospitals with the help of IT.
These all modules included interactive sessions and presentations which helped me grow personally and socially.
With the beginning of the second semester came the good news of offline classes with 50% capacity and I opted for the offline classes. The covid guidelines were being followed during the classes like sanitization and social distancing.
The second semester started with Epidemiology, Research Methodology, and Biostatics which gave us the opportunity to do research and present our research reports. The teachers were so helpful, and the research presentations and papers went very smoothly. After these subjects came Human Resource Management and Marketing Management in which we were taught various aspects of HR, Health Analytics, Data Analytics and Marketing with presentations and various case studies were also solved during the session to give a taste of the real-world scenarios and how things work.
Not just academics, this institution gives various opportunities, I participated in a webinar which was based on AIDS and SDGs, and it was good exposure.
Also, there are very cultural events such as, Alumni meet, Entrepreneurship cell, Incubation center, Placement workshops, Career Development sessions, Diwali party, Sports day, Cultural events, Fest, Freshers, Farewell, Festivals etc. are also being organized.
I would just like to conclude by saying that this institution is a perfect place for Learning, Corporate insights and Career growth, and I am glad that I am a part of it.
